CathyAnn
Still thinking of you and Fergus, John. Beth's response made me think of "Craigslist.com" for posting a lost/missing message. Worth a try..... Cathy Cathy and Piper
SARpartner
Another thought for you to try it worked for us here in Louisiana when looking for a show dog that escaped the owner's RV. We went to all the tow truck companies and asked that the drivers be given a poster and to keep an eye out. And begged them to call any time. About 2 in the morning we got a call from a driver that spotted the escapee trotting along the interstate. He was able to get the dog to stay with him while we traveled to meet him. Needless to say the owners were elated to have their fur baby back. You might also ask the postman to keep his eyes open for Fergus. Talk to anyone who will listen. You never know who will be his guardian angel. My heart goes out to you. All the best and a quick and safe return for Fergus.

wheezie23
John, we're all praying for Fergus here too. I didn't sleep well for worrying about him. Living in the Portland area like you do has turned out to be a good thing in that many of the volunteers from Col. Potter's Cairn Rescue live in that area and are familiar with it. They've been walking the neighborhoods too. You have many, many helpers that you don't know looking for Fergus. I hope you get some good news soon. Teri9672
I sure hope he comes home soon. Are you offering a reward on the posters? It's pretty sad, but most people will come forward for a reward. my cousin just went thru this. Her pomeranian went missing and come to find out the neighbor had gotten him and gave him to a friend of theirs across town. The friend finally called once a reward was offered. He was gone for almost 2 weeks. The friend said he was working in the neighborhood and found him. (Even though my cousin remembers seeing his vehicle at the neighbors house the day he disappeared)
Cairns2
John, I have been glued to the postings hoping for some good news. I feel so helpless sitting here on the East Coast. Wish there was more I could do for you. There is a website called Petfinder.com it lists all dogs (and cats) available at shelters all over the country. You can search on breed, sex, etc. in case a shelter that isn't familar with your case has found him. In your flyers and posts be sure to mention he's chipped. I understand that should deter anyone from taking him/selling him and most vets and shelters check for chips. I am praying to St. Jude for a speedy and happy ending for you! ballast
Still nothing to report... the search continues to spread. I have postings and pictures everywhere I can think of on the net. A classified ad is in this morning's paper. Printed more posters and handouts for wife & friends to hand out today. We are hitting all the vets and pet stores in a 5 mile radius and all the chain pet stores (Petco & Petsmart) in the portland area. Our breeder is coming in to help and is bringing a 'sample' Cairn with her to show people as she canvas's the area. We are trying to keep our hopes up. We appreciate all your good thoughts. grillywarren
I am so sorry you have had no news. I have been thinking and praying all day. Did you speak with the people who had the yard sale. They might remember someone that seemed off. You never know. Good luck and may God be with you as you search. Ellie

ballast
Lack of progress report: Ruth (my wife spent the day doing more posters. We are now in virtually all the vet and pet stores, either hand delivered or mailed. All the dog parks have a poster. Ruth ran into an Animal Control person ("dog catcher") today and gave him a poster. He said the whole county staff has already had a lecture on looking out for Fergus, but took some posters to spread further. We have many friends in the local Cairn community and they are all offering any help they can - some have done personal searches for Fergus locally even tho they don't live close by. One of Fergus's littermates belongs to someone who works for the Park Bureau and he is going to distribute posters within the Dept. I have posted Lost Fergus notices on any internet site that offers it, and the newspaper ad came out today. At this stage, about all we can do is keep checking with the various animal control offices and wait. Thanks to all of you who have offered suggestions, sympathy and hope. This is a wonderful, supportive community. John

toomanypaws
Thanks for the update John. It's not what I wanted to read but I am staying positive. I still feel it's just a matter of time before you get a call from someone who has Fergus. I know this has to be killing you, but try to stay positive. Increase the reward if need be. I'll be glad to donate towards it. <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/maiwag/terriersiggy.jpg" border="0" class="linked-sig-image" /> Beth, mom to Ninja (5), Hannah (7), Abbey (7 1/2), Kiara (10)

Tracy A.
John: A few years back someone in our dog club had a Yard-break like yourself. The escapee was later found running with a pack of stray dogs from the area. Some times rescue/shelter groups know the strays hang out..... just a thought. I'm really hoping that someone brings your baby home soon. Tracy Tracy, Amos, Walter, Brattwrust & Mettwurst a.k.a The Gremlins
