Runaway Puppy

post-757-1123396721_thumb.jpg :( Around 5 this afternoon we discovered Fergus was missing. He had been in the house and in the backyard on and off all afternoon. We don't think he slipped out the gate when it was opened (but Cairns can be pretty sneaky). My guess is he found a hole or other escape route out of the back yard. I haven't found any obvious exits, but he is still so small that he can squeeze through places I wouldn't expect.

We have checked with the neighborhood and done a drive around with no luck. He's wearing ID and he's 'chipped'. I had hoped he would find his way home, but he's been gone at least 6 hours now. We'll check with the pound tomorrow.

Keep your fingers crossed for us.

John

I'm sooooo sorry Fergus is missing! You must be scared to death! I will keep you and Fergus in my thoughts and prayers that he will be found.

We went through this a few months with Finch. It turned out she was scared to death of the roofer (who were putting on a new roof next door) and took off down our street, crossed a busy street and was running like mad down this road. A woman (bless her heart) stopped and picked her up and took her to her home.

Have you called the police? I left my info with them and found out that the lady that picked up Finch was getting ready to call too.

Good Luck and let us know as soon as you find precious Fergus!

I hope as I'm typing this that Fergus is safe at home, still we are praying for him. In addition to calling the pound and the police, I read somewhere that it is a good idea to call as many vet's offices as you can in case someone has brought the dog in.

John, we're thinking of you & Fergus here in Annapolis, MD. Sorry we can't be closer to help in a search party. I'm sure you've called all your friends & neighbors to help walk thru the neighborhood with his photo, calling his name & spreading the word. Maybe post some of his photos at the local grocery stores, gas stations, etc? Poor little guy is probably scared & huddled under someone's steps nearby. What a freightening experience. Please keep us all posted. We care & we are worried too. It could be one of ours!

I wish I could do something to help you look for Fergus and am hoping someone saw him and couldn't resist taking him home. Maybe once they see your flyer, they'll call you. Stay positive!!!! I am so sorry you're going through this and I'm hoping and praying he's found safe.

I am just SICK about this all day today. I can't think of anything else. I just sent an email to a woman who has an extensive email prayer group and put in a request that they pray that Fergus is brought home to you safely very soon.

There WILL be a miracle!!!!

I've just read your message and I do sooooooooooooo hope by now you have found your Fergus.

It was quite scarey reading your post as I too have a 6 month old Fergus who is also chipped in case of such an eventuality.

If it's any consolation, I found a wandering dog in town yesterday, caught her and fortunately she had her name & phone # on her tags, so rang the owner who came to collect her. So miracles do happen and I hope one came your way with your Fergus.

John, in your mind's eye, see Fergus coming home. This is a type of prayer called "intent."

When Wes was in the hospital, our friend told us he would envision our dog healthy again and coming home

Can you put something on your porch that Fergus likes, like a toy or treat?

I will look into the future and see Fergus coming home to you.

Love,

Sally

Checking back in because I can't get my mind of Fergus. I agree w/ Sally to picture Fergus coming home. Besides a toy or treat on the porch, can you leave your gate open? I will keep checking back on your dear little Fergus. Please update us as soon as he's home.

Eeek. Just got home from a trip to Seattle. I'm with all who visualize Fergus trotting home. Hang in there ballast. The last PDX Cairns I heard about who went walkabout took up residence at a car dealership for the day!

OMG....I can just imagine your anxiety. Hopefully he will find his way home with a grin on his face and the attitude that says he had an adventure.

Luckily he has ID and has been chipped. It may just be a matter of time before he's found and back home.

PLEASE keep us posted.

Still no word from Fergus - lots of encouraging words from all of you. The gate is open in case he wanders back. We have color posters up all over the neighborhood, dog parks, bus stops. More going up tomorrow. Contacts at animal control are on the lookout. We will place a 'lost' notice in the paper tomorrow. Animal control says no reports of dead dogs. At this stage all we can do is wait & pray. My thanks to all of you. John
