Now Abbey could use some positive thoughts/prayers

****UPDATE****

Abbey's home w/ alot of medication and resting comfortably. She's still very weak and there's still alot of blood in her runny stool. My dh seems to be leaning toward it being gastrointerocolitus. We will know more tomorrow when she can eat a little. If she can keep her food down, chances are there isn't an obstruction. She still has her IV line in just in case any vomiting occurs and she needs more fluids.

Here's my poor, pitiful looking Abbey

My dd, Destiny couldn't be happier to have her Abbey home.

My dd tucked her in, and Abbey fell asleep w/ her favorite stuffed (or should I say destuffed Lambsy). She's destoyed many stuffed toys, but Lambsy still has its legs and arms stuffed and she won't let anyone have it.

Here's a cute picture of Abbey as a pup w/ her Lambsy.

Again, thanks for all of your kind words. I find such comfort reading all of your thoughtful posts. Here's hoping Abbey has a restful night. I'll update you tomorrow once she has had some food.

:( Edited to update, I had given her a pill, per my dh before posting and just went to check on her and she has vomited again. Dh is at a martial arts class and I paged him to call me. Please continue to think of Abbey tonight. She's so weak right now. :(

Awww, Beth. Abbey really does look just pitiful. Poor girl!

We went thru this with Piper, if you remember, not too long ago. We never did figure out what caused it. But, he, too, was very, very sick. It took a good 5-7 days before we saw a turn around.

Hang in there, we're all thinking of you.

Geez, would you believe I started filling up looking at little Abbey with her sad face. I hurt for her! Please know I'll be keeping her in my prayers. Give her a hug from me and Scully please. And I'll be keeping YOU in my thoughts and prayers as well.

So sorry to hear about the terrible time your having with Abbey. She looks so sad in the pics, but it sounds likes she is getting excellent care so lets hope she gets well real soon.

Sending positive thoughts your way.

Beth:

Glad to hear that she is home. And i'm in the same boat as Sandy- with everything that Mett & Bratt have eaten I am amazed that they haven't had an obstruction. Gemstones, Pepples, Buttons, things I can't ID all found in the poop.

Hope that you have a peaceful night, and that Abbey starts felling better... I'll contine sending postive thoughts..

Beth, I just read all about Abby's (and yours) horrible day! It's so horrible when they feel bad and don't understand why. I just wanted to pick her up and rock her when I saw her picture....poor Abby!

Please keep us updated on Abby's progress....you sure are lucky to have a vet at home!

I just found this thread too. I'm happy Abby's back home with you. I'm sure she'll be okay, especially having all us well-wishers!

A few months ago I learned that some pups are sensitive to food coloring and other things in the environment. We had the same problem too..

Abbey is once again resting. Dh came home and was able to dilute her pill and administer it through her IV w/ a syringe. All further medication will be administered that way until she can hold things down. I'm glad I have dh because she soiled a wee-wee pad (lose stool) and not to be too graphic, but 3/4 of the pad was blood. I would have been in a panic w/o his reassurance that this was to be expected. She was given one ice cube and did enjoy licking it from my hand. Hopefully tomorrow she'll keep something down and start improving. Kiara and Abbey have been so cute. They both want to be in the kitchen w/ Abbey. It's something how they sense something is wrong. Hannah actually looked at Abbey and then looked up at me and howled. Kiara is sleeping right beside her right now.

Thanks again for everyone's concern. I knew everyone here would understand the deep love that overtakes us for our Cairns. They sure do know how to grab hold of our hearts.

Checking up on Abbey. I was thinking of her all night. Hope she is feeling better this am.

We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made.

Abbey had a restful night. Dh gave her her medications and one ice cube to lick. She didn't want it at first, but once I held it for her she started licking. She has to at least have interest in the ice cube or she'll have to get fluids hooked up to her IV. If she keeps her ice cube down, she'll be offered another one and then this afternoon, she's going to get a little cooked rice. It's so hard to look at her little face, knowing she's not feeling herself. Hannah just doesn't understand why her playmate doesn't like her. She stands close by Abbey looking at her w/ her ears perked up and tail wagging as if to say "get up and play".

It sure does mean alot to see how many of you care. My dd couldn't believe that there's so many people concerned about Abbey. I'll update again once she is offered the rice later today.

I'm glad to hear she got some much needed rest last night. Please give her a hug from me and let us all know how she's doing.

And don't forget to take care of yourself...Abbey needs her nurse to be 100%.

I can't help but cry when I see how sad she looks and the reaction of her mates, I am glad though that she had a peaceful night. I will continue to pray for all of you and hope things continue to get better.
