RIP Duncan

Last monday, February 20, my DH and I had to make the decision to let our boy go. He wouldn't have lated the day and we didn't want him to suffer. He was only 10.

Duncan had Cushing, he also had low thyroid and was getting CCD (canine version of Alzheimer's). Up to about a week ago, he was still living a decent life. Then things began to go downhill.

I miss him so much. The house is so quiet. I keep looking for him. This is the first time since 1975 that I haven't had a Cairn in the house.

Enjoy the Rainbow Bridge, Duncan. Mommy and Daddy miss you.

I am sooo sorry for you both. Words cannot describe. Having gone through what you are currently going thru is so very hard and yes the house is very quiet. My thoughts go out to you in this time of grief. Hugs.

Such a horridly difficult thing to deal with but one we all must sooner or later . The loss of our beloved Cairns. My thoughts are with you . He was much loved and cared for and what more could Duncan ask for.

Take care

Sending you my deepest sympathies. You obviously are a huge Cairn lover – with Cairns in your house for over 35 years.

May time and good memories help heal the pain you are feeling.

Beth, sending condolences from here knowing full well that the pain is so raw that words must fail to console in this difficult moment. May time bring you to a better place. It is hard to even imagine what a home would be like without our wonderful little dogs--especially after all those many years of having one there. Wish I could help but....! Peace.

Our sincere condolences on your loss. Duncan gave you 10 years of love & companionship, and a life-time of memories. They are in our lives for too short a time, but in our hearts forever. God Bless Duncan and you.

I am just so very sorry your precious and beloved Duncan has passed. If I could say or do something that would somehow lessen your pain, I would do so in a heartbeat. There just are no words...

May you find solace in all your wonderful memories of him. He will always be a part of you.

Much love and shalom from our family to your family. I'm not sure why we do it over and over again...

adopt children that probably won't survive us. But they're just too precious; how can we not?

So sorry for your loss. I just had to have one of my cairns euthanized in November just short of his seventeenth birthday and I know exactly what you're going through. It isn't easy I know that much. I still walk into the house expecting too see Cutter wagging his tail and barking for me to take him outside.

  • 11 months later...

Today is a year since we lost our funny little boy. I often think about him. I wish he had meet Heather. I think she would have been good for him. There are times I think he still missed Grania who died in February 2010. I have lost three of my cairns in February. And now I have one who was born in February - on the tenth anniversary of one's death.

I miss all of them.
