bradl
There was a pastiche of (Terry Gilliam?) animation in a recent episode of Fringe that contained what looked to me like a (big-eared) Cairnish type dog - particularly with the erect ears and proud tail. 22+ seconds in. remltr
I don't know if this counts as it is not a movie, but a TV series. Last nights episode of The Americans on FX. A couple of Russian spies, working undercover in America during the 80's, walking through a park in the dark discussing an issue. The woman spy has a Cairn Terrier on leash. I'm pretty sure the Cairn is spying on the spies. 3 Quote Sassy Jan 22, 2005 AM. CH. THARRBARR LITE MY FIRE ZOMERHOF
_whits_
I'm just now getting around to this week's episode of The Americans. It was so exciting to see that wheaten Cairn in the park! The character walking the Cairn is a regular, so hopefully the Cairn will show up more often. I think there's a whole chaos of Cairns working as double agents; it'll be a major plot development in season two. _whits_
The woman spy has a Cairn Terrier on leash. I'm pretty sure the Cairn is spying on the spies. I watched the scene a couple of times, and it sure seemed to me that Cairn was pulling pretty hard on the leash. I was laughing, glad to see a Hollywood Cairn is just as stubborn on the leash as my Addie. _whits_
My mom just sent me a picture of a new animated movie coming out: Legends of Oz (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0884726/). It looks like they're going to have a Cairn as Toto; well an animated Cairn. It doesn't look entirely pleased to be on the movie poster. Tralier here: It seems it is based on a novel written by one of Baum's grandsons. Zekey's Mom
I happened on "Bright Eyes", a 1934 Shirley Temple movie. Had to watch more of it when I spied a Cairn! Turns out to be Terry (Toto). Funniest scene so far is when Terry shows up on Christmas morning hitched to a little wagon! She's pulls it into the room, with the doll that's in the wagon. mom42terrificgirls
I watched the movie "Twister" last night and I'm pretty sure the dog in the beginning of the movie (not in the middle) is a Cairn, which would make sense since there are some Wizard of Oz references in the movie. Can't find a photo of the dog but his name was Toby, and he was supposed to have been Helen Hunt's dog when she was a little girl. They took him down in the storm cellar with the family. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks. Quote http://www.cairntalk.net/gallery/image/1096-/

bradl
Not sure about the Helen Hunt the actress part, but intriguing parallel I had never really noticed before: Helen Hunt the breeder, (affix Shagbark) was influential (PDF) in Cairns, although she died at an advanced age in '95. Toby was surely not *that* Helen Hunt's childhood dog A forum member who hasn't been by in a few years was approached about possibly using his Cairn in the movie.
