Deer Tick Question

Does anyone know if it is okay if you didn't get the whole head out? I know with humans it is okay (unlike dog ticks) as it is not the head that carries the disease.

I am getting so frusterated! I did a half hour long deer tick check last night - pulled one out from her under arm and one from - yes - her vulva! Somehow I missed this one (under her coat on the top right shoulder) and it was engorged this morning (wasn't last night). I am a master at getting these things out - I have pulled hundreds off of my children and myself - but this one was impossible. When I did get it out part of the head was left - I couldn't get to it because her skin around the bite had swollen up and hardened. (Is this normal?) I know only too well, however, what it would be like if we DIDN'T use the advantix. Can't put that stuff on kids . . .
