Grooming/Biting

My 1 1/2 y.o Cairn *hates* to be brushed. I usually try to do a little brushing while I watch TV in the evening when she is sitting on my lap but she tries to escape so I have to hang on to her collar and then if I pull at all or catch a knot she tries to bite me - hard! Do any of you have this problem? How have you solved it because this kind of dog really needs a good brushing regularly or else we have terrible tangles. I really don't know what the solution is! Help! :crybaby:

Hi.

Our dog is almost that age. It takes two of us to groom him usually, unless he's tired. On rare occasions, he looks like he attempts to bite. But more often then not, he will lick the holder to death.

My question is- how do you groom the face?
