Izabella's Mom
She's from Ireland. Limerick, her breeder said. Anyone have any suggestions for some cute Irish names. How about "Irish?" aubreyea
We're debating on another cairn and have been looking at irish names. One I really like is Erin (means ireland) or Eryn. She is a doll! Is she a westie or a cairn? Edited: I didn't notice before that you had a post about getting a westie. She's adorable! tuffysmom
Cute she is a Westie and I would say about 16 or so weeks maybe a few weeks older. She looks like my Ollie.
Izabella's Mom
She is a Westie and she is 14 weeks old. I do like the name Erin. How do you think they go... Erin and Isabella? Not bad. Quote Barbara Izabella's Dogster Page
goforette
How about: Emer; Sorcha (sork-ah); Chloe; or Darerca (dahr-erka) - however the last one might be tough for a dog to get since it could sound like more than two syllables - and I've heard that dogs tend to respond better to two syllable names... there are so many pretty options for Irish names - can't wait to hear what the name will be Quote Hollie Edelbrock & Brystal Sonoma Chris, Stacy and Little Noah
Darcy's Folks
Oddly enough (and yes I know she is a GIRL) what about Limerick as a name??? It really quite unique. Or Darby, I get so many people who ask me if my dog's name is Darcy or Darby (it's Darcy with a C). Technically, Westies are derived from Scotland so any scotch or irish name will do her well. She's so pretty!!! Quote Kate, Darcy & Bailey's mom
Scruffys Mom
My husband and I just returned from Ireland and loved it. We hope to buy a second home there. How about Maeve, Isolde, Meaghan, Maureen, Rose, Maggie, Molly, Mavis, Esmerelda. Sparky had 5 names before we settle on one. They tend to name themselves

sheila and Misty
I dont know anything about Ireland or irish names except my mom told me sheila was irish .ugh please dont use that since your first dog has a more sophisticated name its only fair to give the westie one as well-I almost got a westie myself.I heard they had more energy than cairns so I backed off that idea. I love the cuteness of the name molly-and misty would have been a Molly except our new neighbors(right next door) arrived with a molly. wouldnt be right. Shes is a cutie congrats! maggie
I like Molly and Erin, my Kai-lee was almost named Molly but we have good friends with a daughter named Molly and we thought it my offend them. It turns out their other daughter just had a baby and named her Kailee!!!
jodi0553
Awww! Very cute little girl! When we picked Curran's name, we went to a baby name website. It breaks the names down into gender and ethnic origin. It also tells you what the name means so you can pick one that is personality appropriate! Here is the link to Irish names for girls: http://www.babynamenetwork.com/baby_names/...p;gender=Female You could also check out some gaelic or celtic names - there are sure to be some unique ones there. We made a list off of that and just waited a couple days till one fit! "Curran" was actually picked off the male Gaelic list. A few that would fit a little girl westie if I were choosing: Aidan - means "little fiery one" Keely - means "beautiful and graceful" Shylah - means "loyal to god, strong" I don't love this one personally, but couldn't resist it: Rowena means "the white haired one" in celtic! Good luck! Edited March 29, 2007 by jodi0553
Scruffys Mom
PS The author of Angelas Ashes is from Limerick. I also like Clare (There is a county Clare and Limerick is either in it or very close, I am sure someone from the UK can confirm). Whatever her name is, she is adorable. If I had bot been blessed with Sparky, my next dog would have been a Westie. We had one as a child with a Scotty . We had the Scotch Bottle. Spanky and McDuff were their names. toomanypaws
She really is a cutie and looks alot like my Westie. Kiara, Abbey & Hannah are all doing great w/ him. Although his name, White Ninja (Ninja for short), doesn't go w/ the Cairn girl's names, it fits his personality and kind of goes w/ my male Lab, Thor. Thor's full name is Braveheart, Thunder of Thor. He can act tough, but he's actually a big puppy who wouldn't hurt anyone. Amber and the zoo
How about Mollie Macgillycuddy? Very Irish Or Gwyn(Celtic): <white phantom>It means 'white' and it also can mean 'blessed' and 'lucky.' Cerridwen - the Celtic goddess. Her name refers to the color white and is connected to a Celtic legend related to "the White One". Quote We're the Cairns of America

sistabella
awwwh... she is really cute. And eveyone has suggested awesome names so far! i know where to look next time i have a new puppy. i had a scottish fold kitty in Cali, his name was Logan. Cute for a little boy, but maybe not a girl. The first name i thought of when i saw her pic and that she is from Ireland, was Connie, short for Leprechaun... or Chaunnie hehe. Naming new additions is so hard. It took us a couple months at least to name our Cairn puppy. But a lot of the problem was finding a name that works in both french and english. Originally we wanted to call her Miss Piggy because she is always grunting and looks like a little muppet. But the Frenchies were calling her "Peggy" and i couldn't stand it, hehee. Good luck, i can't wait to hear what you choose =)
goforette
Clorox (the bleached Cairn). Now that's really cute... the bleached Cairn.. which is exactly the proper way to describe my last Westie... Darcy's Mom
Brad, your sense of humor really amazes me!! Remind me never to ask you to name one of my pups, if I ever get another one. LOL!! Just kidding. I still love that you named one of your Cairns Stella for S T E L L A!!! in A Streetcar Named Desire. So original. I'm partial to Darcy (duh) and Molly but I like Erin, Kailee or Kai-lee, that's real different and has a nice ring to it. I'm sure whatever you decide to name your little girl will fit her just fine. Why not give it some time and let her sorta show you what she should be named. She's such a beautiful little pup!! Izabella's Mom
Thanks for all the great ideas. I appreciated every single one. I decided on Shonah. Shona is Scottish/Gaelic for God is gracious (which has nothing to do with my westie but it's beautiful) I put an "h" on the end to differentiate from the spelling of the human name. ...don't want to be blasphamous Barbara Quote Barbara Izabella's Dogster Page
