If you would like to link to an image but don't have a site of your own to host it, you have the option of using a free or paid image hosting site.

Note: Some image hosting sites use 'dynamic' or scripted methods to serve the pictures. For security reasons, this forum does not allow dynamic images. The sites listed above all support direct linking (or did at the time they were listed).

If you find other free sites that Cairn Talk members might find useful for image hosting, and the site supports direct linking, feel free to post them in this topic.

Be careful wih image shack. I used them and began having problems on forums because they randomly put add graphic links in to replace your pictures. I've gotten emails from other forums sysops that they had to remove my signatures etc. because of the ads. I didnt know imageshack would do this. I'v e since stopped using them. They are good for storing files, just be ready for linked files to have ads on them from time to time.

Just tried Shutterfly and apparently it's one of the "bad" ones. Guess I'll try another...

Photobucket is what I have used for the past ten plus years for eBay and forums. It's so easy to use. But I only use it for images.

I recently started using photobucket. Like DemiSheep says it is very easy to use and good for posting to forums and elsewhere. Editing and resizing available.

ImageShack recently relaunched and is no longer ad-supported. They are now on a subscription model - cost looks very low. 

 

Straightforward link codes = works here. Good selection of size options.
