Elliott has now graduated to free reign

Can you believe it? Our Elliott has shown beyond a doubt that he has matured enough to be left in the care of his older "sisters" while I'm out. Today it was for 4 hours....4 long hours and absolutely nothing was damaged, soiled, chewed, destroyed or missing.

And here we were all still calling him Helliott....shame on us!

Elliot, Dawg! Way to go! Finally! I've been telling you all along that sometimes it's best to be good and play along with their silly rules. Now you can snooze on the couch when they are gone and sniff all their stuff. Or chomp on a bully stick without them constantly watching you. Sometimes it pays to be good. Besides, I prefer to "act up" when the Alpha B is around so I can enjoy her reaction. You know what I mean??

Woof!

Got groomed today. I must say, I DO look spiffy! (I look like YOU!)

Congratulations!!!!!!!

I have been letting Teona stay out only in the evenings when we go to dinner or to the gym.

Well.......last night we came back from dinner and someone had peed on the couch

I know who it was because as soon as I took the girls out Tabitha went potty Teona did not.

Back to the crate

Teri9672,

That is our only issue with leaving Chase and Gus out. Chase marks this lamp and last week both of them marked in the office.

They are banned from the back part of the house where bedrooms, office is at. Gus is not too bad, 7months old but Chase his older brother, 18 months, still marks about twice a week on the lamp, so when we are not home, they go in the huge wire crate. It was the biggest one made and has 3 doors on it. It has a divider so they both are together but on their own side. Chase has wet on the divider in the cage too but not lately. We will see how long this last with Mr. E.

You must give some time to your fellow men. Even if it's a little thing, do something for others - something for which you get no pay but the privilege of doing it.

It's because cats simply can't be trusted for heavy lifting & dirty work required in the war on terrior.

You're kidding us, right??? No more Helliott stories?? Say it ain't so!

Well, maybe, maybe not. I'm glad Elliott is doing so well, but remember to stay one head game up on him.

I remember Abbey showing me she was trustworthy up to 4 hrs, until one day she stated chewing on the corner of the kitchen wall. Kiara and Hannah both enjoy free reign, but I think Abbey will forever need supervision.

Hmmmmm, I haven't sat down on our couch lately.

I think you all misread my post....

He can stay in the house loose with his "sister" but he's still a stubborn, mischievious devil when I'm around. Eli is 100% correct!

It is pouring rain out and he will NOT come in the house. I could call him till the cows come home and he just stands there with a smirk on his face. He is digging in the mud for a chipmunk that is teasing him big time. It runs through their play area, squirms into the little stone wall and pokes it's adorable head out just to irritate Elliott. I love this chipmunk!

It is great that Elliott was able to be a good boy but I agree with Toomanypaws.........Duffy and Mickey were left alone for three hours several weeks ago and nothing went wrong. However last week when I was on vacation, I left the house for 1/2 hour to go to the market and when I came back, one of my sofa pillows had been demolished. I think both of them were involved because I found traces of fabric in both their mouths. So now I don't whether to continue to crate them or attempt to let them have free roam of the house again.

I'm so jealous... mine aren't trust worthy for 30 seconds..... :( Hollie just peed on my brand new furniture a couple of days ago for no good reason....

Yea, Elliot!!!

I'm glad he has a little freedom! Cairns are soooo different, and each handles freedom in their own way. Finch was trusted to be out of her crate before she was even a year old. Scout, on the other hand, had to be crated until she was about 2.5 years old. They are both great now, but I know that I always have to watch them carefully and their freedom can be taken away at any time. They always keep you on your toes, don't they??
