Ears

I have a 12 week old sweetie named Levi. Today, I notice one ear now stands up and the other is still bent over. Is this normal, and how old are the C. pups when they should start standing at "attention"? Wow, is he a handful? Just about the busiest puppy I have ever had, my poor cat!!!

Yes it's normal for one ear to stand first. This topic has been posted before and I think I read that some Cairn's ears don't fully stand up until 6 mths. Two of my Cairn's ears stood up by 8 wks, and the others took until 16 wks.

When we got Barney at 9 weeks, his ears would be straight up when alert, then just flop over at the top when relaxed. By 11 weeks, one ear was up all the time, and the other was flopped over. Now at 15 weeks, both ears are straight up! I hoped so much that he would have those straight up, pointed ears I saw on all the Cairn pictures, and now he has them! Yea!

Only now his ears look amazingly big compared to his head!! I guess he just has to grow into them!

If I could figure out how to get a picture on my post that is bigger than a postage stamp, I would love to show you some pictures! So far I can't figure it out. I don't have a way to put pictures on the web first, and according to this site, you have to load them into your post from the web. Even though I am a graphic designer and use photos all the time in my work, I just can't figure out a way to get them to be big enough in my posts. Better study up more on it...

Teri, your dog is beautiful!! I see blue eyes too! Is that just the photo?

What a beautiful coat and coat color! I love the style of grooming she has. That is how I want Barney's coat to look like, when he gets big boy fur!!

Oh and the ear is just TOO CUTE!!!

OK, I thought it was time to change my personal photo and put a more current pic of Barney in it! Now you can see how big his ears are and how nice and straight up they have become!

What a little peanut he is! OH, I must go upstairs and give him a hug!!!
