DashellKc Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 We cannot decide between 2 names. Atticus (from To Kill a Mockingbird) or Gus (just because) I love Atticus, my husband loves Gus. Our little guy will be 4 weeks this Sunday. We are going to visit him next week and hope to be giving him his proper name. I dont have a way to post pics yet but will very soon! Taylor
Scully'sMom Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 My vote is for Gus. I prefer, for some reason, two sylabbles for a dog's name. Makes it easier to yell for them
wags Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 Hey, How's about AttiGUS as a formal name and GUS as a nickname? If you call him Attigus, he's just gonna hear the "gus" anyway.
toomanypaws Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 I don't know, Joanne, when I really get mad at Kiara (like when she's attacking a snake), even her three syllable name isn't enough. I usually add her middle name and yell Kiara Joy. As far as the name Atticus or Gus, I guess I like Gus better, but wait until you see you pup before deciding what to name him. His personality might make you think of a different name. You could always name him Attigus and call him Gus for short. <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/maiwag/terriersiggy.jpg" border="0" class="linked-sig-image" /> Beth, mom to Ninja (5), Hannah (7), Abbey (7 1/2), Kiara (10)
kayharley Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 I vote for Gus also but his personality might not fit either name.
jansop Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 Gus is my pick. My little boy's name is Booker, and I say Book more than Booker.........jan jan He who laughs last thinks slow.
Hhoky Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 I kinda like Atticus. Its a name you don't hear often and I like those one of a kind names. I vote Atticus
Scully'sMom Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 Beth.....you know what? You're absolutely right. When Scully's not paying attention, which Lord knows is a lot of the time, I yell Scully Squires! (She only has a last name)
CathyAnn Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 We didn't name our pups "officially" until we had them a day or two. We had several names in mind, but didn't commit until we saw what type of personality they had first. I do like both names for a male Cairn. Cathy Cathy and Piper
tena Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 At our house the critter's name seems to reveal itself after we meet them. Either name is good, both have style. Sophie
wheezie23 Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 Since "To Kill a Mockingbird" is my all time favorite book and movie, my vote is for Atticus. We already have a Finch and Scout on the board. Next all we would need is a Jem and a Boo! Thela Check out Tucker, Scruffy and Chloe's dogster pages: http://www.dogster.com/?82915 http://www.dogster.com/?85018 http://www.dogster.com/?327895
Zoey in Maine Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 im curious now? did you decide on a name? i agee sometimes you have to watch your cairn for a few days and see the peronsality before naming. However, the more I think on it, what good is a name anyhow? The little buggers only come when THEY want anyhow -- not when you call them !!!
DashellKc Posted June 19, 2006 Author Posted June 19, 2006 We decided on Atticus. When we visit him, he is just so happy. He is 5 wks old now. Constantly wagging his tail (even when he is ornry) and he is just such a happy go lucky little guy. He will growl and still wag away. He is too cute. I cannot wait to get him in a few weeks. My daughters made the final name decision. They love it. I even considered Edgar but my husband hates it so no go on that one. I wanted something that you dont hear every day and I like the odd classic names anyhow. Thanks for wondering. Taylor
grillywarren Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Atticus sounds like a great name!!! Can't wait to see pics of the little cutie! I had a fever when I came up with "Grilled Cheese", I thought hey we can call him Grilly!! It is funny...that was about 6 months before we got him and the name SO fits!!!! Funny thing! ellie
goforette Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 I like Atticus better - but just remember neither one might work. I had in mind what mine would be and when they arrived they clearly didn't look like the names I had chosen. So, they just kind of picked themselves in a way. It was almost harder finding middle names for them - Hollie Edelbrock & Brystal Sonoma Chris, Stacy and Little Noah
MyCairnPepper Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 i like atticus but i agree with every one else about personality picks the name because befor i got my westie we planned to call him Cody but when we first got him he was so small and bouncy he looked like a little bug in the grass so we named him skeeter bug and then when we got pepper my husband wanted to name her fancy and i told him she was so fiesty and spicy she should be called pepper
