goforette Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 It will be 2 weeks tomorrow since my new girls arrived (Hollie and Brystal). Of course we're still chewing the pee pad, destroying the puppy pen, we just discovered bitting ankles and diving after the bark and chives in the backyard. These are my first cairns and I'm so excited about them, and hoping they'll be healthy and happy - and that they'll grow out of making cotton balls from the pee pad. Brystal has one ear that came up while mature Hollie already has both of hers up. Any advice for the cairn puppy stage is always greatly appreciated. Tracy A. Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Cocktails for Mommy & Daddy help on those trying days! Welcome to the Forum! (Did anyone mention we love puppy photos?) Lots of praise and patients, they will get older and grow up/out of it. It takes like 100 no's per dog to get a point across.... I'm tired just thinking about it! I understand they start to mellow out between 1.5-2years old! I myself am waiting for that one! My boys still shred a papertowel still if given the chance. I used newspaper instead of puppy pads because they were paper trained by the breeder when I got them. I guess making sure you spend time with each dog for alone 1:1 attention. It's important to form that human/dog bond with each of them.... Tracy Tracy, Amos, Walter, Brattwrust & Mettwurst a.k.a The Gremlins
goforette Posted June 9, 2006 Author Posted June 9, 2006 Any ideas on how to post a picture? Cut and paste doesn't seem to work in the forum.... Yes I should try newspaper - it would be WAY cheaper. $10 for 12 pee pads that get shreded in 30 seconds is a lot of $$$$$. And it doesn't matter what brand they chew them all..... then of course look at you like pure angels afterwards. Thank you for the advice on one on one attention as I have one that I worry is getting bullied by the other and doesn't beg for my attention. I'm not sure how to show her she is loved just as much as the other. If they are away from each other too long they start to whine and cry to get at each other. tena Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Have a blast with your babies they grow up so fast. I didn't have Sophie as a puppy and when she takes a crazed dash through the house, growling at the cats and leaping from the furniture I can only imagine the puppy chaos.... Enjoy your dogs, Cairns are pretty amazing critters. Sophie
goforette Posted June 9, 2006 Author Posted June 9, 2006 Thank you so much for the congratulations. I'm just in LOVE with the two of them. Hollie Edelbrock & Brystal Sonoma Chris, Stacy and Little Noah
