Brody'sMom Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Here is a picture of Brody and Mia's new furniture style crate.
bubba Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Oh! That's the one I saw on HGTV. When we move into a new house next year, I want one or two of those! pat. Children don't care how much you know...they want to know how much you care.
mrskti Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 How cool is that!!!! If I bought one more crate, John would stuff me in it!!! LOL Very nice. Dang, why didnt i see this yesterday before i bought yet another crate! Terry, mom of Dori and Ellie Mae
Mom of two Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 I love the crate,to bad mine don't use them much anymore.
tena Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Very, very nice....an attractive and practical piece of furniture, love it. And your dogs look really cute in it. Sophie
Brody'sMom Posted May 7, 2006 Author Posted May 7, 2006 Its is beautiful. Where did you find that? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It is from a place called Crate Haven. They were the company featured on HGTV and as a result, the waiting time for the crates is over 3 months!
OzGirl Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 That is one very nice crate, so much nicer than my two wire ones.
mrskti Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 chedk out their video, neat stuff for sure... I love the night stand ones, too funny. http://www.cratehaven.com/ Terry, mom of Dori and Ellie Mae
toomanypaws Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 That is so beautiful! Brody and Mia look so cute. I just researched and found the Hunter collection has a bench that opens to three crates. Of course, it's currently unavailable. <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/maiwag/terriersiggy.jpg" border="0" class="linked-sig-image" /> Beth, mom to Ninja (5), Hannah (7), Abbey (7 1/2), Kiara (10)
kayharley Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Beautiful wood, too. Hmmmm....now picture a steak dinner sitting on top of it with two Cairns inside.
Tracy A. Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Swanky! LOL What wonderful crates! Tracy, Amos, Walter, Brattwrust & Mettwurst a.k.a The Gremlins
CathyAnn Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 Ohhhh, just love 'em!! I watched the video and thought I saw a Cairn in the triple door, white crate. Cathy Cathy and Piper
Brody'sMom Posted May 7, 2006 Author Posted May 7, 2006 Regarding certain crates being unavailable, I think they were completely overwhelmed by the HGTV segment. Regarding Cairns in their advertising, I think she (meaning the lady DH spoke to) said she had a Cairn, so it is very possible. She asked for photos of Brody and Mia in their crate, so you may see them on the site!
DirtyGertie Posted May 7, 2006 Posted May 7, 2006 I was watching DIY network today and they have an upcoming episode where they teach you how to build a furniture style crate. I can't wait to see it. I might just have a weekend project for the hubby soon. Barkitecture
SARpartner Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 Thanks for the link. With four dogs this would be an expensive proposition. My brother does wood working as a hobby. I think I'm going to have to put a bug in his ear.
Kramersmom Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 Amazing, there beautiful! Here is there website http://www.cratehaven.com/ Rhonda,Kramer & Angel Missy "Blessed is the person who has earned the love of an old dog". "It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are" Missy Rainbow Bridge Memorial/>http://www.indulgedfurries.com/petdiabetes/memorium/missy2.htm
Brody'sMom Posted May 8, 2006 Author Posted May 8, 2006 My husband does wooodworking as a hobby and he did not think it would be worth it to build it as he would have to buy all the wood, however, if you had the wood left over from another project it would be more feasible. The crate actually came with 4 wooden sides, so we can close it all up, of course we can't keep our dogs in there like that, so in reality we'll probably never use those panels (we are using one to hide cords that drop behind the crate). Given that, to build one, you'd really only need the stiles (which are solid wood), the top (which is furniture grade plywood), the bottom (also furniture grade plywood), one side and maybe a back (looks like nice luan) and the feet. As a non-woodworker, I think it would be fairly easy! And if you were going to paint it you could use MDF. I think I watch too many home improvement shows!
