binkyrab Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Hi , Here are some snaps of Rufus before and after he was stripped!
Lisad Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Ooooohhhh. What a handsome fellow. Did you do it by hand or did you use a MCK?? If a MCK what size blade?? How long did it take to complete?? He looks great!! How did you do his face??
hallswel Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Rufus looks great you did a good job! Liz Rebel, Hammurabi, Sugar, Dirty Harry, Paint, Duncan and Saffron
toomanypaws Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Rufus does look good. My three are all due for the MCK. Beth, mom to Ninja (5), Hannah (7), Abbey (7 1/2), Kiara (10)
kayharley Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Oh yes...he looks wonderful but I think he looked pretty good even before the grooming. Could that be a gorgeous leather sofa he's reclining on? I am jealous...I can only do fabric furniture because my Cairns are total animals!
CathyAnn Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Hope he feels as good as he looks?? Been wondering how he has been doing.... Cathy Cathy and Piper
Darcy's Folks Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Rufus is such a handsome boy! Kate, Darcy & Bailey's mom
binkyrab Posted April 6, 2006 Author Posted April 6, 2006 I cant take any of the praise ! I took him back to the Breeder she hand stripped him, It took a good 2 hours she got 3 football sized balls off him, I stayed while he had it done, this is how I ended up with Little Rosebud, We bonded while poor Rufus was being beautified, It turned out to be a very expensive Hair do, I do like him a bit more tatty looking than he is at the mo. I have been thinking about getting a coat king but Im worried there coats will end up silky! Hubby say's He cant go for anymore hair do's or we will end up over run by cairn's Binky
chrissysb Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Not sure if this is allowed but...Can you give me a price range of what it costs to get someone else to hand strip? We found a breeder to do it but they don't have a cost on their website. I'm just trying to figure out if I should plunk the money down to get a table or have someone else do it.

I thought it was a good price as it took so Long and she did a fantastic job on him. Binky
Eliz222 Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Rufus looks soooo handsome.....Scout wants to know if he has a girlfriend yet!

Binky <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've been using the MCK on my three and I don't think it's changed their coats. Hannah has the best, thickest coat and it has stayed that way even w/ the MCK. My Abbey has a silky coat, always has. Maybe someone can let you know, but I really haven't seen their coats change after using the MCK. Beth, mom to Ninja (5), Hannah (7), Abbey (7 1/2), Kiara (10)
Cairnmania Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 Rufus does look great! If you want to keep his coat up a bit between stripping I find the easiest thing to use are my fingers. I wear one those bumpy rubber caps over my thumb (the kind you buy in stationary stores) and just pull out the longest hairs every couple of weeks. It's easy. If have the Coat Kings, but don't use them much. They do get out some undercoat, but I find combing or brushing the hair against the way it lays does a better job. They also do cut the coat, at least on my two that happens. However, as opposed to clipping the coat the Mars Coat King is better. Stacey
OzGirl Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 Rufus looks so good... Money well spent, he's gorgeous.
Anna_525 Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 I just received our stripping package that has the MCK, the rubber fingers and the scissors. I can't wait to try it on Alfie! We need to wait a bit since he just got a haircut and I'm hoping in time the waviness of his coat will grow out, especially on the face. Binky, Rufus does look much younger and handsome!
