With some exceptions I guess, mostly they shed 'minimally' - dead coat will fall out from time to time, if you don't pull it out yourself during grooming. It's more like the occasional 'dust kitty' or small clump and nothing at all like the blanket of hair you get from short-haired dogs, nor the clouds of blown coat you can get from some of the Northern breeds, etc. Very little shedding, in other words. At least with five Cairns at our house at the moment.

You will have to register for anyone to contact you off-line about puppies, as placement discussions are not allowed on-forum. Meantime, a good place to start is with the breeder referral page of the CTCA: http://www.cairnterrier.org/breeders. Also, check the AKC event search http://www.akc.org/events/search and you can find dog shows nearest you. Dog shows are good opportunities to network with breeders and exhibitors and get plugged in to responsible breeding in your general area.

Brad explained it very well. I have three Cairns that love to hang out in my kitchen and I never have hair on the floor. I do maintain their coats by brushing almost daily and using the Mars Coat King. That pulls out all of the dead hairs. I love wearing black and I find very little "Cairn hair" on my clothes. Now my Lab, HE SHEDS!

Once we got Sophie's coat in condition she sheds very little. I brush her several times a week and use the Mars Coat King to pull the dead hair. I have an Angora cat, and friends that is serious shedding. If Sophie sheds, I haven't noticed.

We have very little shedding here, but I think it would be less if I brushed them more than twice a week.

To support all the other comments... no (very little) shedding, minimal hair noticed around the house or on furniture more of ours than hers! -and if you see some on your clothes when you hold them it really mean they are way past due for grooming. The unhealthy 'dead' hair will fall out easily.
