The Cat in the Hat

Today I was flipping channels, and accidentally saw a part of the movie "The Cat in the Hat" where there was a cute dog that, I believe, was a Cairn Terrier. He was way too quiet to be a Cairn, but then again it was a movie, and everything is possible. Has anyone seen this film and if so, do you think it was a Cairn too? The only reason I kept watching was that I thought a Cairn was in it, but he appeared in very brief scenes anyway.
