cookies,come,no!

I read on here ages ago someones dogs got through the fence and only came back to the promise of cookies, well I thought that was so cute, sounded much better than biscutts which is what we call them in Aust.and so much cuter than come,so now we call "cookies Rebel" (making sure we have a doggy treat)and he comes no matter what ,everyone thinks its so cute.

I've also noticed if I say "hello" in a very high pitched happy voice he goes crazy, jumps up for kisses and runs around and around my feet,I work from home and all my clients love him and hello is the first thing they say to him,so I guess it's from that.

The one he dreads is "what's that" the look on his face and the body language is so human like, I've experimented with this one and found I can walk into a room and say to one of the kids "whats that" in an tone thats only enquiry, and Rebel still looks guilty.

So cookies, hello and what's that, are the words Rebel reacts the strongest to, I would of thought ,hungry or walk would be top but you can't pick it ,what words make youre dog cringe or bounce?

With ours, since the command `here` or `come` doesn`t work so well it becomes more like`YOU BETTER GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE, NOW` that does the trick. Then she is praised. This may not be the method of some behaviorists, however it seems to work for us.

You definitely made me laugh. Maybe some won't appreciate the humor, but I sure do. I have two that will do dances back to me if I raise my voice real cute, or just say "treat". My oldest, Kiara is different and probably wouldn't want to come if I was dangling a live frog if she was hunting her own.

We have to spell "Ready," because that's the word that reminds Wes, of "Okay, bedtime!" And he barks his complaint big time.

We have to spell "are you taking him to the yard?" because he will run to the back door.

We have become really good spellers and mind readers because he is getting to be one too.

We're going to have to learn another language:

One thing that gets his attention is "MEOWRRRR!" It's better than whistling for him.

Sophie knows 'walk, quit, and come' she knows drop but won't....she also responds to my son's name, and the cats name. Down and bed are two others that cause sulking. And of course No, and her name

Yes, still guilty as charged.... I am still using "Cookies" and it still gets them to come... Where as plain old 'come' doesn't do it.... 'Come Cookies' LOL :)

Boy do they have me trained well!
