I have never seen anyone in Live chat.

We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made.

I've gone in a few times, but nobody is ever there.

Why don't we set up a chat "time"? Maybe every Wednesday and Sunday evening at 9pm CT??

Just an idea..... :)

Scheduled is about the best way. Good idea to remind people on the day, too, Shoe. I can scarcely imagine anyone would ever bump into anyone randomly.

Another suggestion from a previous discussion - you might try checking on the stroke of an hour to maximize chances of bumping into someone. Very slim chance of meeting someone randomly checking in at 17 minutes past an hour and staying for two minutes. Maybe give yourself a few mintues of idle time before and after to account for bad clocks :P

Shoe, Brad posted info about the server problems. The forum doesn't have a dedicated server and can only handle a certain amount of traffic. So, it was down for a while- probably right when you were trying to log in.

Morning chats are hard for me being I work p/t three days. Is anyone up for trying to chat at night? How would evenings work for some? How about tonight, 9 p.m. central time? I'll check in tonight to see if anyone's here.

Beth,

I checked into chat at 9:00, talked to Brad for a second, and have been solo since. Just letting you know that it did work for me, but you could probably see my name listed. I hope you get your invalid password fixed and I'll try again some other time.

Toomanypaws - sorry you had probs. The chat is set up so that if you're logged in to the forum you are (or should be) automagically logged in to chat - I never enter anything other than simply click on the chat link.

My guess is something cookie-related. Maybe try clicking the 'clear cookies set by this board' link on the front page, and then logging back in to the forum?

I just attempted to log in and I forgot my password? Emailed them for a new one and will try again.

Cathy

P.S. Second attempt failed even with the correct password?

Brad....could you check my account? To see if all is 'ok' with my email address or anything else that might cause a problem??

Thanks,

Cathy

Your account is fine. The chat service uses CTF authentication, so if you've completed registration (you have) and are logged-in (presumably you were - your posts indicate you are logged in now for instance) the normal sequence is a brief pause when the chat login appears and then you are simply logged in automagically to the chat. You should NEVER have to enter login details manually.

That said, if you look at the troubleshooting section below the chat window, there are a number of things that can prevent connection to the chat server. For instance, I can't get at chat from work, because our firewall prevents using the necessary port. If you have a firewall or 'internet security' program running, you may need to configure it somehow. You can test by turning it off for a minute or two while trying to connect.

Thanks, Brad.

Had hubby take a look and the only thing we can see is that in my account summary it says that my "email account has already been used"?

We tried to log in without firewall with no success and Java is enabled.

I haven't had problems getting into chat before, but I just tried and it states that I have an invalid password too! I tried changing it, but it still didn't work. I usually use Mozilla Firefox, so I tried using Internet E. Internet E. didn't work either. Maybe there's a glitch with Cairn Talk?

Brad...thought I'd copy what is at the top of my Control page:

Your account summary

EMAIL WARNING

Your email address has been changed because it was in use by another account. This means that all email will NOT go to your correct email address - this could include lost password notifications, etc.

PLEASE change your email address immediately.
