wellygoggles
Judy Garland carry Toto under her arm so easily? My Fergus weighs 9 kilos, but he actually feels like a tonne. Perhaps Judy was on hormones? Perhaps Toto had been on a diet? Any ideas folks? Veni, vidi, velcro - I came, I saw, I stuck around
tena
Maybe that's why she got the big bucks? Sophie fits under my arm, but she is pretty small for a Cairn, she was originally less than 10 pounds, she now weighs 11.5 with dramatic difference in body mass. I doubt she will reach 18 Sophie
Mollyrocker
I don't know! I had to carry my friend's Cairn for the last 15 minutes of a hike in the woods recently....she had been trying to keep up with the big dogs and got tired at the end. I felt like I was carrying a bag of rocks! She isn't fat, but she is SOLID!
savannahsmom35
I can carry Savannah under one arm for a couple of minutes but not for long! Savannah is 16 pounds. I think Toto must have been much smaller than this. Anyone know for sure? We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made. -M. Acklam Savannah's Dogster Page

Milopup
My pup is 14 pounds and I carry him under my arm. He won't get much bigger since he is already 2 years old.

Teri9672
I carry Tabitha like that all the time. I kinda put her on my hip. I had plenty of practice doing this when she had her surgery. 6 weeks of carrying her everywhere.
Eliz222
I can carry both of my dogs under the arm too.....but not for a long time. I can't imagine holding a dog during shoot after shoot, after shoot!
Tracy A.
When Mett & Bratt were around 10 lbs (or 4.6 kgs) I was able to support them a bit on my hip and carry them around without my arm ging numb. As they have turned into pork-wursts its get harder. Mett has the shorter body of the two, and he weights 17.7 lbs (or 8.03 kgs) and even with him balanced on my hip, I can only carry him for a short distance that way before I loose all felling in my arm! Maybe Terry was on the smaller side for a female...... Tracy Tracy, Amos, Walter, Brattwrust & Mettwurst a.k.a The Gremlins
bradl
I find the 13-14 lb dogs pretty portable; the 16-18 lb ones, not so much. CAIRNTALK: Questions? toomanypaws
Hannah would like nothing better than for me to do my housework w/ one hand. I do carry her ALOT! Her weight fluctuates between 12 & 13 lbs. She seems tiny to me compared to my other two, especially Kiara. When I see these moms carrying 20 lb babies around, carrying Hannah is easy. <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/maiwag/terriersiggy.jpg" border="0" class="linked-sig-image" /> Beth, mom to Ninja (5), Hannah (7), Abbey (7 1/2), Kiara (10)
JerryLv
Since Zen was 6 months old, I have a found a new respect for the late Judy Garland. She either bulked up for that roll or the Cairn she was hauling around was a mini type of guy. The 4lb wonder who joined our family last April now weighs over 20lbs. Ugh! I agree, picking him up is like lifting a sack full of bricks.
suedelu29
Someone else actually has a cairn that is over 20 lbs.!*@ Roxie is about 24 lbs and is very solid. But she looks ridiculous when she tries to roll around on her back, like she is all solid middle. She has just alway been a big girl, funny for only weighing in at 3.4 pounds in the beginning. kcsdogs
it was probably part of her work out regiment. Helps build upper body strength! I know my Kipper does he is about 16lbs and solid as a rock!
lyric35
How do I know if my Kiko is growing as expected (without a trip to the vet)? I was in a store the other day and when I told the cashier that she was 4 months old, she replied that she was awfully small. She's at 4 lbs.....
