How Much Crap Does ONE Cairn Need ?

I can't make myself quit.

She's got more toys than our 2.5 year old son.

I just bought her a new coat today - her puppy coat is stripped and a cold front will be here next week - so she "needed" ANOTHER one...

HEEEEEELLLP!!!! :surrender:

My son now steers me away from the toy department. I am always getting something for Sophie and then feel guilty so I get the cats something also...its a bad bad addiction.

I finally broke down and bought a toy chest so we can now walk through the rec room without stepping on a toy. Oh, but it is so much fun when you walk through the door with a new toy and they just know. And it's just too cute when they're all wound up waiting for the first toss...who will get it first...omigosh!!!

Guilty.... And I find myself feeling bad if I don't buy Savannah something for every holiday (Christmas, birthday, Valentine's day, etc.) ***Sighs*** Yes, she has me well trained.

Savannah has a toy basket too and it is so funny to see her route through it trying to find exactly the toy she wants.

We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made.

Not only do I constantly buy them toys and such, I'm not into stuffed Cairns and Cairn collectibles..(thanks to a thread on this forum  )

Our toybox is overflowing and our floors are littered with chew toys, balls, bones....it's a jungle in here.

Crunch has TONS of the stuff...and he strews toys and bully sticks and balls out of HIS basket just like a kid. He is not satified till every item has been carried to a destination far away from the toy basket. My husband and son were discussing training him to pick up the toys and return to the basket at the end of the night. I am positive that they are crazy and it cannot be done...

If Crunch thought it was a game and it benefited him.....I'm almost positive it can be done. Appealing to Sophie's 'what's in it for me' attitude is the key to success at our house.

Guest Darcy's Mom

Molly and Darcy are forever depositing their "stuff" right behind my feet if I'm at the sink or cleaning up the kitchen. Then I step back and realize I've probably stepped on a tail or paw and you should see the dance I do to try not to hurt whatever "it" happens to be. Then I look down and see the sock or stuffed toy and I'm so relieved that it wasn't a dog part. I'll probably kill myself trying to dodge tails and paws. (I'm not as young as I used to be either!)

It's too late to edit my post....

I can't believe I said I'm NOT into stuffed Cairns....I meant to say I'm NOW....NOW...NOW...into collecting them.

And I still don't know how to post using quotes...

It's ok, I read your post and first thought you got upset over the collectibles and then just realized it was a typo. I need to proofread my posts. I noticed that my grammar was bad, but I think everyone knew what I meant. :shy: To use quotes, just click "quote" and then the "reply" button. :)

I can't remember back to my other pups, but do all dogs have the traits of cairns. I mean, do they all have toy boxes and dig through them for their favorite item. Or do all dogs just know you bought them that new toy and can't wait to get at it? Can't remember! I know my one from 3 years ago (who is now gone :( ) had only one toy, her alfie doll. One, just one, can't believe 14 years and she was satisfied with that one toy. (and she was part cairn, the other half must have controlled her personality, huh?)

How's this for too much crap! This is what has accumulated for my Cairn girls. I rotate their toys, meaning some get stashed away in the utility room. When my girls get bored, I just toss them an old toy and they play and play w/ it. I had asked my dd to go through old toys to toss and didn't realize she put them in the utility room w/ the other toys. I dumbed these to go through and thought I'd take a picture to show you what spoiled Cairns I have.

Kiara and Abbey immediately came over to take a prized posession. Hannah took her time deciding what she wanted to keep. :)

Not only do my Cairn's have a toy box with all their toys, they jump inside to pick out a "special" toy to play with.....doesn't matter what you pull out....they have to have THAT special toy (which, btw, changes every hour). If you try to play with another toy, they just walk away. It takes several minutes before they "choose" the right toy...lol!

Finch loves her toy box so much that she will sleep inside!

*notice the nose against the tub* :P

There's nothing like stepping on a squeaky toy at 3 o'clock in the morning when you're on your way to the bathroom! Then waiting till your heart stops racing so you can fall back asleep!
