Standing for treats

Whenever I say the word "treat", my Cairns girls all go up on their hind legs begging. I've been meaning to capture it on the digital how my Cairns stand up like little bear cubs when they want a treat. Usually all three are doing this, but now that I have the camera ready to click, I was only able to capture Kiara and Abbey in this pose:

Here's one of Kiara:

Here's one of Abbey:

Hopefully I'll get one of all three of them standing up. They're so darn cute.

They both obviously need a good brushing, but I still had to share their pose.

Hey, how neat! Have you tried associating the word "stand" when they do that? So one day they'll just automatically do that when you say STAND and..VOILA!!!! They will look like they are performing tricks!

How cute!!! Growing up I we had beagles and they would do that all the time. I haven't seen either of my Cairns do it though.

They look just precious!!!

Yes, with Kiara I just say the word "up" and she goes right to two legs.

Sophie not only does it for treats, she will do it to get a better view when she is out walking on her leash. Its funny to see her

Yes, mine too have stood up to get a better view. Where's that camera when I need it. :)

LOL Cute pics! Savannah has learned that DH has a fit when she hits the blinds trying to look out the window so she does this pose AS CLOSE to the blinds as she can get without hitting them so that she can see outside. I never have my camera when she does it though. :(

We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made.

Though we have taught Fiona to stand on her hind legs on the word "up" her favorite begging pose is to lay completely down with head down between her paws. She knows she is irresistably cute when she does that  In fact when I am cooking dinner she lays on her side acting like she is starving...it is really quite funny. I thikn she lays down though for her treats because from the start we had her laying down for her food, for her toys, etc... These cairns really are so adorable...i just love the pics! always brightens my day at work! :D

Our first Cairn, Oliver, spent more time sitting like that than he did on all fours. He was always begging! Tink hasn't caught onto that trick yet. She has done that a few times to look out of the window - as Savannah's mom said. By the way, now most of our blinds are raised a bit so she can see out. My dh is constantly raising them (crookedly) and I'm constantly lowering or straightening! I think we are at war over them!!! :P

Ruby does that all the time, too. In fact when I come home at night, she hops around after me on her back legs till I acknowledge her.

Beth.....your girls are so precious!!

Piper does this sometimes but mostly goes to the 'sit', then 'down' positions. Probably because that's what we usually 'ask' him to do prior to receiving his goody. I think he'd probably do just about anything for THAT treat as he is food motivated, for sure!

Must be a Cairn trait. Zen has done this since he was small. Usually he starts out in a sitting position. If the treats don't come fast enough he goes into his 'dance' mode. Usually no command is necessary....only treats. If I want him to respond the command I use is "up". What con artist these Cairns be. :P

Well, Winnie's a tad to old and plump to do that, Madison jumps rather than poses but Elliott will do the "dance" for whatever I have in my hand.

Is that Scruffy sitting? That is too cute! I can't get mine to sit, only stand. Sometimes Hannah will wobble while standing on her hind feet. :) Kiara and Abbey have pretty good balance.

Those pictures are adorable!!! Mine don't "dance" at all. B)

The only time they are on their hind legs is when they are jumping on our next door neighbor when she is feeding them cookies!
