Velcro Dog

She never leaves my side, and the tub/shower has been a serious bone of contention. She just can't join me there...or so I thought.

There was no whining today, no fussing, I started the water she started the zoom-zoom around the house. Once I'm in the water she stood on her back feet and grinned, then very nimbly, but carefully parked herself....my velco dog. Foiled again, I guess I can no longer hide in the bathroom.

She seriously needs a hair cut!! and looks so small.

Wow she should be in the circus! Be careful with the hot water.

Veni, vidi, velcro - I came, I saw, I stuck around

You might as well drape a non-skid bathmat over the tub for a safe perch since she's gonna be there no matter what!

Wasnt there a post a few months ago about a dog jumping in the tub with mom? Yah watch the hot water!

How stinkin cute is this dog!

Does anyone remember Ernie from Sesame Street and his Rubber Ducky song?

(to that tune):

Little Cairn, you're the one

You make bathtime lots of fun

Little Cairn I'm awfully fond of you!

how sweet that she wants to be near you all the time

I hate to be the one that brings up the bad side of things....

There is a fine line between a dog that "loves" you and one that is obsesive. It is great when they want to be with you. Just be careful it does not get out of hand.

Sorry for preaching.

Gosh, I posted here the other night and must not have hit "reply" Anyways, that is a precious picture of Sophie. I love her name! I have to watch it that I don't make my youngest Cairn, Hannah my velcro dog. She too is small and would love for me to carry her around. My dd's reading her spelling words to the Cairns right now, otherwise Hannah would probably be wanting to be on my lap. My Hannah dances at my feet to go w/ me when she sees me grab my van keys. I take her when I can, but it kills me to see her sad look when she has to stay home. After what Sophie has probably been through at the puppy mill before you rescued her, I'm glad she found a true "comfort zone" w/ you. Sophie is so cute, I'm glad both of you found love and happiness.

Tena, she is precious! I guess there is no privacy in your house!

My Eric is also a velcro dog. I can't walk 5 feet without him getting up and moving closer to me. He follows me ad nauseum!

Any suggestions for keeping it from getting out of hand?

how cute.....

Teona got in the tub with me once. I was just trying to relax in my calgon bath and all of a sudden I was sharing my whirlpool bath with a dog. I couldn't keep her out of the tub. I gave up and got out :)

My oldest Cairn is a little obsessed with me. She follows me everywhere, but I don't find it to be a problem.

My Buddy will stand outside of the shower (we have a glass door) and just look at me longingly and lick the door thinking the water is on his side. One day I let him in (it is an oversized shower) and he wouldnt get out. He was in need of a bath, so i bathed him. A few days later I was in the tub, we have a big jacuzzi tub, and he tried his absolute hardest to jump in, he actually jumped up high enough to get up on the edge, but I am a quick thinker and mover, so I just put him back on the floor. He barked like the devil when I turned on the jets, but he loved it when I started cupping the bubbles and blowing them out of my hand.

Buddy is my little sweetheart.

Scout is scared of the bathtub (it's an airjet) so she won't go near it, but Finch likes to put her paws on the top of the tub and lick the bouncing water and som soap bubbles!

Bella does this too! We have a glass shower door - and she will just stand there and watch, lick the screen etc. Lately she has started to jump up on the screen  little devil that she is...I have opened the door to let her in, but she hasnt ventured in yet.....give her time!

Savannah is my velcro dog. She follows me all over the house and lays on the shower mat while I am in the shower. I like it this way because I can keep an eye on her as she always wants to be able to see me. As long as she doesn't start to show any signs of seperation anxiety when I leave, I won't do anything to deter her.

We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made.
