Congrats! We can't wait to see a picture of your baby!

We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made.

Congratulations and Welcome! Having a cairn in my life (actually two) has been one of the most rewarding and challenging experiences. Life is never boring with one of these guys. I can't wait to see pictures of your little guy!

Congratulations on your new pup! I LOVE shopping for a puppy. My youngest pup still has her baby blankets I bought her at Wal-Mart.

I found that using my daughter's hamster's playpen was a good way to keep my Cairn pup from getting into mischief.

This plastic bucket from Wal-Mart was a great way to carry my puppy around w/ me while I did housework, or "talked" to my Cairn friends here at the forum. :)

Toomanypaws, if you don't mind a few questions, how tall is that hamster-ranch, what material is it made of, and where did you get it? It looks intriguing. I love the vertical orientation of the bars to stymie climbers.

Brad, I got the playpen from Petsmart. Here's some info on it:

hamsterplaypen

I also used the pen as a long gate blocking the puppy from leaving the tiled area. This is only good for young, small puppies.

Hi Muugi!

I just posted a reply to another message, and then read yours.

I remember spending a lot of time on this site in anticipaton of our puppy! I have not posted much, but I have spent many useful hours reading through the site...

Our Molly has only been at our house for 1 short month (yet it seems much longer than that.) It is so much fun!! It's had it's "moments" if ya know what I mean  - but I would not change my decision to add a cairn to our house, as I am sure you will soon feel the same way!

Have you found a pup yet? That was the LONGEST wait... From the time we found Molly until the day she arrived.... I used this site to burn some extra time... It was useful and helpful...

WIthout sounding too redundant, this site and all the posters have given me more info that they probibly realize... I think they are just posting for fun, but their fun is my education! (Thanks everyone!)

Anyway, I'll be watching... Let us know when s/he arrives and then post some pics!

Good Luck.

David, family, and Molly.

We have a pup in mind. In fact tomorrow morning we are getting a house call from the breeder and pup. If all goes well we should be able to adopt the pup a few days or so after Christmas. We got the cage setup and a few toys ready. I just hope the older dog (Black Labrador mix) takes to him.

*ashamed*

I already purchased a Cairn Terrier wall calendar.

I will post pictures when I take some.

With our first Cairn, we had an older Choc. Lab and a young Yellow Lab, and both adored her. The older Lab contributed to helping her housetrain so fast. My two younger Cairns were never blessed to have met my first Lab, but they both love my Yellow Lab (almost 5) to pieces. I did have to watch them as pups for fear of being stepped on by the Lab during play. Now that they're all grown, I love watching them all run the yard together. If your Lab is anything like mine, I'm sure he'll love your new Cairn pup.

Next to marrying my wife, adopting my Cairn pup was the best decision I have ever made in my life. They are a pet to be treasured, there is no comparison.

I wish all the best with your pup. You won't be sorry, and you will find these boards to be invaluable in helping you through fun and difficult times. :)

PS- Right now as I type this message mine is sitting between my legs, looking up with adoring eyes, and grunting at me in that patented Cairn style, asking to come up on the couch. Of course I will oblige.

Well the puppy just visited the house. Everything went great. Sabrina (the older lab) did very well. Of course everyone was on their best behavior.

Of course as you should be able to tell, Sabrina is second in command in this house.

He should become a permanent member of the pack monday.

Ooohhh....how adorable!!!! Best of luck with your little one. I'm glad that the initial meeting went well. And it looks like your Lab is one heck of a driver! :D
