Hot spots

Anyone had any problems with hot spots on their Cairns? Mine gets them and the only thing to stop an episode is a cortisone shot, which is not good. I try to keep Advantixs on my Cairn, because even one flea bite can start the itching and knawing at the spot until it is literally raw and looks so painful. I was just wondering if it's a common problem with the breed because I've never had a dog with this problem.

I just took my puppy to the vet because of scratching, hair loss on his back legs. They told me he had probably developed a food allergy and/or allergy to grasse. They gave him a shot and some pills. I also change his food. I am now getting it from the vet. He is doing wonderful.
