It's Tough Being Beautiful

Scully'sMom

Recommended Posts

Scully just got back from the groomer's. Most "girls" get energized from being pampered. Not this one.

Note to Eli:

You think YOUR humans are bad? Look at this silly Halloween bow they put in my hair. I look like a furry Pebbles. And for THIS my mommy paid good money?

Not to worry though. My daddy hates these bows and as soon as mommy's not around he'll get rid of it for me. Is there room for me at your house?

Awww, she looks gorgeous!!!! She's just getting her beauty sleep!!

Reminds me, i need to brush Dori tonight, she's the knot queen! And she hates being brushed.

The first time I saw a Cairn, it had it's coat done in the skirted cut, does anyone here do that? That seems more like a scotty or something, I was just curious.

Aww, I love the bow. Kramer thinks Scully is one cute girl

Cairns don't have a skirt - although they can get one easily enough by not pulling coat in that tender area, or by clipping/pulling the jacket and leaving the skirt. Here's a Cairn in that 'carefully casual' show coat - no skirt to speak of.

Liddy gets a bow from the groomer's, too! But Linda, her groomer, attaches it to Liddy's collar; I think Lids would go crazy with a bow in her...um...hair....

Lids also likes to nap after a trip to the groomer's. Once I had to take her early in the morning and Liddy actually fell asleep on the grooming table.

Guest Eli, here!

Oh, Scully! You are beeyooteeful! Even with the silly bow. I can chomp that bow right off of ya, no problem. Yes, you are most welcome at my house. I am sure the Bossy One would LOVE you (she would). Here's the plan: you move in and we behave REALLY well for as long as it takes. I think if we're REAL good, the Bossy One will let us have free reign of the house! How cool would THAT be? We could run around all crazy and chomp stuff. When we get tired we can lay on the couch and watch Animal Planet. Then get all crazy and stuff again. You get the idea. Don't forget to pack all your toys!

Woof!

Eli

Scully looks cute w/ her bow, but not very happy. She reminds me of my Kiara. If I were to put a bow on her head, she'd put her head down as if I were making her balance a brick. She'll pose wearing a hat, but never a bow.

Scully looks so pretty!!! Maybe not happy, but pretty! :D A halloween bow, great idea!!! I bet I would have better luck putting on a Halloween scarf around Savannah's neck but then everyone thinks she is a boy.

We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made.

Scully, are you related to Alfie? :D She's a cutie pie! No need to be sad! Alfie has that look after grooming...and that's without a bow, too!!

That judge in the picture Brad posted looks like she wants to take the cairn home with her. I'd want to take him home, too!

Guest Darcy's Mom

When Toby was with us (at least 18 yrs. ago) I made the mistake of taking him to a "groomer" at my previous vet's office. Well, he came home looking for all the world like a Schnauzer (nothing wrong with the breed, just not Cairns) with the shaved back and all. I was terribly disappointed, he was embarrassed and I never took him back to be groomed at that vet's office again. I didn't know enough about the Cairn breed at the time in that you should hand strip them or at the least not to use the clippers on them.

Wouldn't you think a "groomer" could tell the difference between the two breeds?

Darcy got 2 gingham (sp?) white & lavender bows put in her hair right next to the ears the last time we got her groomed. She looked almost too sweet for her devilish/tomboy personality. Although, as her mommy I sure thought she looked sweet as pie..... she managed to get them out as soon as we got home. The devil in her DID return! LOL
