kandya Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 Hi everyone, I'm Abby Rose and I look forward to hearing from you all. My mommy thinks I'm part Piranah. Any suggestions on how to nip this in the bud? My tiny teeth really are sharp!! Abby Rose
maggie Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 Welcome Abby Rose you sure are pretty, I really like your name too!
Darcy's Folks Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 Hi Abby Rose! You're a very pretty girl! Tell you're mommy that she'll just have to wait until your baby teeth to fall out of your head! ha ha! Kate, Darcy & Bailey's mom
TheScotts Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 Welcome! What a doll! Lots of toys and chewies will help...and yelp or yell ouch! when she nips....good luck!
CathyAnn Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 She sure is a cutey pie ! Looking forward to hearing your Cairn 'tails'..... Cathy Cathy and Piper
Lesley Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 As a new Cairn owner I can say yes, toys, squeaky and lot's of them. When Rusty takes something which is "not his" I immediately bring him one of his toy's as a swap to let go of what he has. And yes! At 4 months the puppy teeth and chewing does somewhat subside. Although, I find myself saying "no biting".......as gentle as it is ............often and alot. I've learned to always have a toy to satisfy the need to open the jaw.
mrseggcup Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 Eli, here! Ooo, baby, you are sweet! When I moved in to this place, the Bossy One had the floor LITTERally covered with dog toys and chewy things. It looked like Disneyland! And still does. You should hear what she says when she steps on those pig's hooves! Oh, my! There is so much stuff on the floor I can't hardly find any shoes or other stuff to chomp. And when we're playing on the floor and I get a little chompy, there's always something in reach for them to shove in my face. So tell your Up-Right to buy you lots of good chompy stuff. Woof, Eli
hallswel Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 Abby Rose is so cute. Did you tell them to give you good things to chew. Sugar has so many fun things to chew and when we can't watch her she is in her crate with her favorite things. Those little teeth sure do hurt Liz Rebel, Hammurabi, Sugar, Dirty Harry, Paint, Duncan and Saffron
Eliz222 Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 Abby Rose, you sure are as cute as a button!!!!
Gracie's Mom Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 Hi Abby Rose, You are a little dolly! Just keep lots of chew toys available and try to substitute them when she tries to nip or chew you! Gracie and Spike sent their hello also! Linda
toomanypaws Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Welcome Abby Rose! My daughter's Cairn is named Abbey Lee, who will be 2 next month. Your Abby is just precious. Those needle teeth will eventually fall out. Until then, give her plenty of safe toys to chew. <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/maiwag/terriersiggy.jpg" border="0" class="linked-sig-image" /> Beth, mom to Ninja (5), Hannah (7), Abbey (7 1/2), Kiara (10)
abe's dad Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 While we missed Scruf's chewy stage, however, he is very NON agressive with his mouth. Abe was/is still more aggressive then he with his mouth. What worked for him was constant remind to be easy, and little ouchs and oooh abe that hurt mommy kind of comments. It didn't take him long at all to grasp how much force he would use when playing.
kayharley Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 She is a just adorable! Is it just me or are there alot of new Cairn puppies around here lately? I don't know about any of you but these cute little bundles of fur are just killing me! Ever since Elliott turned 1 I'm having Cairn terrier puppy withdrawl symptoms....
Guest Guest Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 My Maggie wants human skin in her mouth. We have decided we are her pacifier. She is 6 months old and her middle name is Maggie "No Bite". She is persistent. She loves to chew her toys and bones but she wants to nibble on us for comfort it seems. Debbie
bradl Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 That's very true I think. If you watch a litter play, they CONSTANTLY mouthe and bite each other. Dog moms teach their pups, and littermates teach each other how much 'mouth' is enough and how much is too much - for a dog. When we take over for Mom and the littermates by adopting our wee pups, it's now up to us to teach them the limits for humans. CAIRNTALK: Questions?
