The idea for my cards this year is sending you holiday greetings

What a wonderful idea!! I wish Savannah was small enough to stick in a mailbox and I would copy your idea! I will have to come up with something else....

We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made.

That is such a cute idea, Liz! I would try it in black and white, and maybe colorize the flag? Just a thought.

I think I could use your idea, too, except the mailbox needs to be on the ground, with tooth punctures all around the edge, the door hanging off the hinge, and both Tucker and Scruffy attacking it. Yeah, that'll make a great holiday greeting!

OMG...I'm gonna steal that little Sugar. She is a baby doll!

I wonder if I can snap a picture really fast of Scully chasing the mailman down the street. Now THAT would be lovely for a card!

You could make a fortune taking dog photos for people. You are so talented!

Hmmmmmm?

If I were to do that with Elliott but made sure he had a stamp on his head.....?

Only kidding!! I would never do that to our mail woman.

Regarding those pics...What a wonderful and creative idea.

If I were you I would redo the pictures but this time do it when the mail is about to run and put a stamp on her head and an address label on her side with my mailing address . I will take great care we just can't tell Abe' mom how she she got here. Just kidding the pictures are great just the way they are. I liked the first one the best .

If you are going to use them as Christmas cards, you could put some garland or fake poinsettias or lights and put them on the mailbox and then take the pic. Sugar could be a cairn model. She is adorable!

Well, wanting a really good picture I asked my husband if we could either paint our mailbox or get a new one....He decided it would be easier to get a new one which was fine by me because I was going to put our park bench in the background and put Reb and Hamm on it with little raindeer ears and put Sugar in the mailbox with a santa hat. It is suppose to be really pretty this weekend and I can use natural light which I think makes the best pictures but it may be a couple of weekends off.

Well he decided to get an easy to install mailbox post. I should have known it was doomed when it took 30 minutes to just get the metal piece out of the plastic. So after 2 hours of work the metal post is in the ground and today we will try to finish installing the "easy to install plastic post" The plastic is really snug and it has to fit over the metal post. Sound easy but its not we gave up and will try in the daylight.

Good thing we left our old one up it might take all week to get this one installed. Of course he says to me "You and your dogs!" but that's ok because there will be a story behind what I know will be a great picture

Liz-

A few things you can try to make the fit easier.

Dusting talc on the metal/plastic and see if it helps. Or try spraying some wd-40 (clean the talc off first). Last use some steel wool, or fine sanding paper on the metal post-

"Honey, we need to do something with our mailbox because I need to get a better picture of Sugar in it." How neat that your husband just says, "Hmmm, well let's see what would be best ... " and not, er, something entirely different. My kind of folks.

Your my kind of person! Our whole life seems to sometimes revolve around our dogs. Sugar is quite the cutiepie! Your idea sounds great and your dh sounds like mine. I look beyond any faults of my dh when I see how dearly he loves the Cairns. I'm currently working on a picture and told dh not to touch my pile of stuff, as it was for a photoshoot. He just said "ok".
