How well do Cairn's swim.

I am a first time owner of a nine-month old Cairn. We have a swimming pool and am interested in how best to get him comfortable in the water. (If at all.) Any suggestions. Thanks, Mark

My 10 month old male took his first swim at 8 weeks. He loves to splash in the lake and can swim quite well. I would also mention that I would be very uncomfortable with him swimming for a long period of time. Just make sure that your dog is familiar with the water and has an easy exit like stairs to get out. You may also want to hold him in the water and show him where to get out. My guy is verrrrrry curious and would not be suprised if he fell in the water while trying to get at something.
