Scully'sMom Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 I went to Toys R Us this morning and decided to stand in line with "moms and dads" to get a pool - but I was getting one for a dog. I came home and started filling it up and she was right there trying to get in. We were working in the garage and I had tears in my eyes from laughing. She was in and out and was just having a blast. Thanks so much to all of you who gave me the idea. I'm just amazed that she loves it as much as she does. And this is Scully search for Nemo at the bottom of the pool. She keeps scratching to get at him.
Guest mrskti Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 Oh dang, I wish i'd thought of getting one for the puppies, we could have put it in the screened in patio.....they'd love it!!! I'll have to do that now....
wags Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 Wes loves the pool. We can't get him out! The weather was cold today, so I filled up the tub, and then he wouldn't come out of THAT either!
Bekah Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 All right Scully, a pool just in time for summer. She looks like she is having a blast trying to find Nemo...that must be hysterical to watch. And Scully's coat looks great, too. She looks like a lighter version of Liddy.
Eliz222 Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 Scully looks like she is having a blast!!!!!!!! Scout loves her baby pool too...but Finch doesn't seem to care...she likes the hose much better.
Scully'sMom Posted June 5, 2005 Author Posted June 5, 2005 I think I had just as much fun today watching her play. She loves ice cubes so I started throwing in my ice cubes from my glass and it was like bobbing for apples! Then she was doing this thing where she would walk around in circles for about five minutes, just swishing the water around as she walked.
TheScotts Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 Absolutely! My Westie got a new pool EVERY summer! I'm sure Connor and Elsa will have one when they are a little older. DScott
toomanypaws Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 I'm glad Scully likes her new pool. We also throw ice cubes in, but only Hannah bobs for them. I empty and refill their pool daily. I think I started something as they now expect their pool time. Today I got quite mad when Abbey jumped in the pool and pee'd! What was that all about? She did have her favorite toy in her mouth and maybe she thought Hannah was going to try to take it and got scared. I'm trying to make excuses for her but I did not enjoy emptying the pool and refilling it. My dd thought it was hysterical. <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/maiwag/terriersiggy.jpg" border="0" class="linked-sig-image" /> Beth, mom to Ninja (5), Hannah (7), Abbey (7 1/2), Kiara (10)
CathyAnn Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 Beth.....Well, ya know how water sometimes 'makes' you have to "go"........ Cathy Cathy and Piper
Kramersmom Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 I love it! Kramer loves ice cubes as well. We do have a pool but its big so I think I will go to toys r us today to get Kramer his own then I don't have to worry about his nails tearing the liner. Off to toys r us! Hey Scully TANKS for the idea you gave to my mommy! Your sure a bathing beauty wuv, Kramer Rhonda,Kramer & Angel Missy "Blessed is the person who has earned the love of an old dog". Milopup Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 The pool idea looks fun, but how do y'all combat the "wet dog" smell, especially since our breed of pups don't get bathed very often?
Kramersmom Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 I went to Target and bought Kramer the small plastic pool. Filled it, he jumped in and out and went straight for the big pool! I had my camera ready but today I'm going to throw ice cubes in as he loves to munch on them. Hopefully I will get a picture today. I even showed him Scully's picture to show him just how much fun he could have Rhonda,Kramer & Angel Missy "Blessed is the person who has earned the love of an old dog". Scully'sMom Posted June 7, 2005 Author Posted June 7, 2005 I'm telling you, this is the best $6.99 I've ever spent on anything for her. I've wasted more money on toys that she never played with. My neighbors were coming out and taking pictures of her today. Nothing like being a star. I can't keep her out of it. Now she does this thing where she walks and walks and walks in a circle around it. I have this round green nubby thing that's meant for chewing and I threw that in the pool. For some reason, she HATES it in there. You throw it in, she grabs it - jumps out of the pool and takes it to the farthest part of the yard and leaves it. And BTW, we also have a sneak pee-er here as well. Yesterday I tried twice to have her go potty out front where she normally does. So I go out back and fill the pool and she hops in and immediately pees in it. Must be the cold water. As far as the wet dog smell, with this heat she's drying off very quickly and she honestly doesn't have much of a wet dog smell. Thanks to all of you who suggested a pool. Scully's one happy little gal!
Milopup Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Does anyone keep a leash on their pup when they are using the pool? We don't have an enclosed yard but want to try the pool - would it be too weird (and dangerous) to keep them in their harness and nylon leash while using the pool?
Brody'sMom Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Brody loves to swim. We don't have a kiddie pool, instead he jumps right in small streams and lakes.
bubba Posted June 10, 2005 Posted June 10, 2005 Like you, I went to ToysRUs this afternoon and bought the very same Nemo pool, hoping the dogs would go in it. Got it home and put it on the patio and started putting water in it. Yoda needed no inivitation, in he went w/out a qualm. Cooper took a little encouragement, but now they race around the yard and thru that pool...I think they think it's the biggest water bowl ever! At one point, they even got to wrestling...I think I scared them, I was laughing so hard!!! pat. Children don't care how much you know...they want to know how much you care.
