NDMike
Anyone have pics of a "brindle" or "cream" Cairn? Reagan is classified as "wheaten" but his dad was classified as "brindle, cream" and his mom was classified as "wheaten" so I'm trying to figure out what color Reagan may end up as. He seems to be lightening a little bit. Thoughts?

bradl
It would fun to have the whole dog, but this is still a helpful set of swatches: http://www.lachleen.dk/uk/Farver.htm CAIRNTALK: Questions? Kramersmom
It looks like my Kramer is considered red brindle. That was a nice swatch of hair colors. My Missy was brindle but she was solid black. Anna_525
Brad, you are a wealth of knowledge. Alfie looks more red than wheaten based on the swatches...maybe we were wrong all along! In the meantime when we got his doggie license, the town clerk looked at my husband with a weird face when he said wheaten. She would only allow tan to go on the record! bradl
I just call 'em all 'brindle' and leave it at that :-) CAIRNTALK: Questions? Need help? → Support Forum Please do not use PMs for tech support CRCTC: Columbia River Cairn Terrier Club
Eliz222
I think Brindle just about cover it all. Finch was considered a Red Brindle when she was 8 weeks old. She is 13 months old and still a Red Brindle. Here she was at 8 weeks. Here she is today
savannahsmom35
She is so precious and such a beautiful color! It is a little more difficult to distinguish the lighter colored coats between the cream, light brindle and wheaten because they all seem to be so similar. Or maybe it is just me. We will just say Savannah is "light colored" with a dark mask! We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made. -M. Acklam Savannah's Dogster Page
Anna_525
I love Finch's photos! Happy! Happy! Alfie is a lot lighter than that...but the strip on his back is really dark....
kayharley
I have to agree on that.....Finch is absolutely gorgeous. She really hasn't changed very much from her puppy pics. The variation of darker hues.....she should be a model

Milopup
Raising hand timidly - how does one post a picture or two? Simple instructions would be greatly appreciated, especially for those of us without a photohosting site.
Eliz222
Thanks, everyone! Finch is still about the same color she was when she was tiny. She has some dark hair on her back but the undercoat is all red. I just wish she wasn't so hairy!! Milopup, I don't know how to post a picture without hosting it. I use imageshack and it's really easy. It takes the pictures straight from your computer so you don't have to load them onto the site and store them there. After I "browse" for the picture on imageshack, I click on "host". After this I click with using the right button on the mouse (to copy) and then just paste the picture in the message box. You can post as many pictures as you want. I like using this instead of attachments because I always have to resize my pictures before I can attach them and this takes alot more time. Sorry I couldn't help you more. kayharley
And I use Photobucket,, a free site to download pics. It took me forever to figure it out and I'm still messing up...check it out and see if it works for you. http://photobucket.com/

Milopup
Thanks everyone - I will give it a try. It's hard to believe I have been posting about my pup for almost a year, yet have never shared a picture. Though it is kinda presumptuous of me to assume y'all want to see my pup's pics!

MikeC
Milopup, I REALLY do want to see a picture of Bosco. I think he is one of the few "old timers" we have not had the pleasure of seeing yet. I use currently use Photobucket but am going to check out Imageshack. MikeC
toomanypaws
Here's a couple pictures of Cairns that are considered cream brindle (at least by this breeded): I did read somewhere that cream can go very light to very dark. My youngest cairn, Hannah is a cream brindle. I was hoping she'd stay black, even called her a black brindle at first until more cream started showing just like the breeder said. Her mom was a black brindle and her dad was a cream. I also have a wheaten that is 18 mths. Her mom was a brindle and dad a wheaten. She hasn't really changed much, mayble a little lighter. I thought I read that wheatens are least likely to change but I definitely could be wrong. My oldest cairn is a red brindle. Her mom was a red brindle and dad was black. I think that whatever the color, you can't help but love these little fireballs to pieces. <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/maiwag/terriersiggy.jpg" border="0" class="linked-sig-image" /> Beth, mom to Ninja (5), Hannah (7), Abbey (7 1/2), Kiara (10)
Abby's Dad
These Cairn colors really amaze me on this forum - they are all different! Here is Abby at 7 months and is constantly changing. Any guesses as to what color she will be?

Eliz222
I just took this picture of Finch yesterday. She is considered a Red Brindle. She has some dark hair on her back, but it's all red underneath. You can also see how much she needs a haircut.....yikes! I'll try to take a picure of Scout. She is always on the run, so I don't have as many pictures of her!
