Sunny's Dad

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to thank you all very much for all the information. It has been a pretty long week and weekend. I have never had a cairn or a terrior at all. I'm currently in college and my girlfriend and I live on the second floor of an apt complex.

I have a 11 year old lab that is like a brother to me, but I recently took him home to my parents because he was having so much trouble climbing the stairs at the apartment. It was very hard for me because we have never spent any time apart.

Well, my girlfriend has been telling me about this girl in her class that got a carin in Jan. The girl was always complaining about the dog and bascially really did not like her. Her boyfriend had got it for her for a present. Well last week my girlfriend (a big animal lover) told the girl she just needed to give the dog to her and be done with it. The girl decided to give Sara(my girlfriend) Sunny(the cairn).

During the mean time I have been talking to the apartment manager into letting us move into one of the apartments in the back on the first floor, so, I could have my lab back. Plus the park is only about 50 yards from it.

So, my friends and I get together last Tuesday and Wednesday and move all our stuff to the new apartment. Sara and I get everything prepared for the new addition to the family and are beside ourselfs, because my lab(lucky) will be back with us and plus a new dog Sunny too. :D

We go and pick up Sunny Thursday night and my heart hurt from seeing him. He was totally flee infested. He had ate off most of the hair on his tail and back legs. I felt so sorry for the boy. We took him home and gave him a bath and frontlined him. We then gave him come canidae food and a couple of new toys. He ate like no dog I have ever seen. He was so hungry. He was really shy Thursday, but slept fine in his crate. Friday was a whole new story.

He got up and I think he realized we were he saviors or something. He has been following Sara and I around since then. He is the most loving dog. He will come up to you and cuddle and give you kisses.

Well Sunday morning I left to get Lucky. I got home and he was so so so happy. He was playing like he was 5 again. My parents said he would stay in my room and not want to do anything all day long. :( Well I get him home and he is acting like a dad to Sunny. They were running around and playing. I took them to the park and it looked like Sunny had never been there before. After Sunny got up some confidence they played at the park for over 2 hours together. Lucky is now laying in his bed and Sunny is laying on top of him :D .

So after a hectic week. Sara and I could not be any happier. Not only did I get my boy back, but now he has a brother. He is also acting younger than I have seen him in YEARS. I plan on taking Sunny to the vet 2morrow for a checkup and I know he has not had his shoots or anything.

Sorry about the long post. I just wanted to say thank you for all the good information I've got from this site so far.

Welcome to our family!!!

What a great story - it sounds like Sunny got "Lucky" finding such a great new home, and it also sounds like Lucky turned "Sunny" coming back home to you and having a new brother.

Good for you and Sara for rescuing this little guy from such an uncaring place. Sounds like Sunny and Lucky were made for each other. Have fun and post some pictures when you can.

How wonderful and caring you and your girlfriend are. Alot of people wouldn't up root themselves for a pet and then take in another. So sweet, I wish you and your family much happiness and look forward to hearing more from ya'll. - Darsey
