Fledgling Robins…. In the last hour Saved two from Amos who was playing with them, one didn’t survive that Walter was running around with.  Training is paying off, I yelled “down” a few times and Amos  dropped the bird and downed for me. I used packaged peanut butter crackers as my exchange and distraction for Walter as I got the birds ( separate incidents) .  Hopefully I can go back to work without any more in the backyard.  Working on a walking down, and stand and stay is paying off…. Slowly.

And I did the scooping/ relocation on my own, normally I yell for Steve to help.

end report.

Good job on the down, Amos!

Tracy, you are braver that I would be! I envy those that have fenced in yards, but there are time that I am happy Atticus is always on a leash! He almost caught a squirrel that was on a tree, close the the sidewalk, that didn't see us.

Good for Walter and Amos on the drop command. Sam caught another squirrel yesterday (4th this yr) and although he would not drop it, when I picked him up, he did hold on for a few seconds but then let it go. The squirrel was dead when it hit the ground.

Catching squirrels is an amazing feat! Well done Sam! Angus has never managed that! Most he's ever done is grab a vole after frantical digging .And that's only happenned after multiple tries over months running free. Well that's not totally true. He did catch a baby rabbit once. It was dead and eaten as a tasty snack before I could get to him hiding in the brush by the trail.
