Toto times 2 Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 Okay here is the way it is. I have two cairns who are practically perfect (in my eyes anyway) but I keep seeing all the puppies on this forum and I want one. Or two. Or three. You get the idea. My husband points out the expenses involved which I know all too well but I can't get the idea out of my head. We never travel anywhere without the dogs, I work at home right now and my husband is retiring in a month so there is almost always someone at home. An ideal cairn environment don't you think? Even my cats are cairn friendly. They just train the cairns the way they want them. We have two boys and I think we may just need a girl.
toomanypaws Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 I say, if you can afford another one, go for it. I do put alot of $$ into my cairn girls but they're worth it. I'm fortunate to only teach at a local museum 3 mornings, so my cairns aren't home alone much. I honestly love having 3 cairns. Dh and I prefer staying home as to going out to all of the social scenes/parties (been there, done that), so there's usually somebody home. I do have a daughter who is pretty active in dance. What's nice is that my dh is usually home when I'm w/ dd at dance classes. It does get a little hectic at times but that's also because we have other pets besides the cairns. We have one cat that loves nothing more than pestering the cairns to death. Maybe the secret w/ having a cat in the house is having more than one so that they play w/ eachother and not tease the cairns. <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/maiwag/terriersiggy.jpg" border="0" class="linked-sig-image" /> Beth, mom to Ninja (5), Hannah (7), Abbey (7 1/2), Kiara (10)
Scully'sMom Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 Hello, my name is Scully'sMom and I'm a Cairnaholic Wannabe. I can retire in three years and I would LOVE to get another Cairn at that time. I aspire to be just like the other Cairnaholics here.
hallswel Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 I am in there with you. I really really want another cairn and all the puppies here make it even worse. I am going to get another....I have the stage set, so to speak. They are going to breed Rebel's Mom and I am top of the list to get a puppy. I told my husband to go ahead and sell his motorcycle and get a Harley then I told him about the future litter. Of course he said okay I am keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well and puppies are on the way if not I guess it will be another year. But I can wait and live vicariously through all the new puppies here Liz Rebel, Hammurabi, Sugar, Dirty Harry, Paint, Duncan and Saffron
Baerchen Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 That's too funny! When are the puppies due? Monica Enya's Mommy www.dogster.com/?91068
Guest mrskti Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 greatest thing about husbands having expensive hobbies (and boy does mine!) they rarely tell you no!!!
Scully'sMom Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 Guess if I want another Cairn so soon I'll have to have my hubby change his hobbies to something way more expensive. Thanks for the tip!
Eliz222 Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 Having two Cairns is great! I'm not sure I could handle 3!!!!!!!!!!! We don't have a fenced in yard so these two keep me busy keeping track of them! I would LOVE 3 Cairns but I think I would have to buy my DH a boat before he would agree!
kayharley Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 It wasn't too long ago that I felt like you did...I just had to have another Cairn and it had to be a puppy. Having 2 girls, I wanted a little boy....Hello Elliott I now have three ranging in ages from 11 years to 7 months. It's hectic, it's messy, somedays it's totally stressful, it's time consuming, expensive and exhausting. There is the brushing, nail clipping, grooming, cleaning, wiping paws, cleaning eyes, feeding, treating, training, scooping poop, scooping more poop, wiping backsides, the fur, the dirt, the chewing, the playing and the shopping for toys. I wouldn't trade one minute of that for all the tea in China but I will admit to yearning for the time to drink a cup of that tea.
NDMike Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 Ok, so...I know that I'm a new Cairn owner but I agree with you all. I want another too! I've had Reagan since last Friday and he's the greatest thing ever, despite his accidents! Hopefully, Reagan is one of the cute puppies that is making everyone want one! Here's another pic, just my way of saying "Go For IT!"
