Best friends forever

As some of you know Angus has been living with my friend about three years now since my health deteriorated. He has known her home and animals since he was a tiny twelve week old pup. He has often visited there and now he loves living there. He loves my friend. He snuggles with her like he did with me me. He is her dog. He's nine years old and fit as a fiddle.

Usually when people stop at her place he barks like a regular terrier but when I drive up and he hears my Jeep he starts to squeal and scream something terrible. He tears out of the house, leaps into my Jeep covers me with kisses wiggling his body furiously all the while. He looks in my eyes and I see the special bond we had formed is still there. All the time I visit with my friend he is back and forth to me, wiggling, jumping on my lap for cuddles and kisses, sharing our special eye to eye contact.

My friend says he only behaves like this with me. Mostly, though friendly, he is quite reserved she says. Yet when it is time for me to leave he seems to understand. He stays by my friend. He doesn't whimper or cry. He doesn't try to come with me. He seems to know he has two special people.

I miss him of course but he has taught me close bonds never break and to savor each day as it comes.

Got a lump in my throat.....sounds like he has a wonderful life. It must have been difficult to part with him but how great that he is with a friend of yours and you can visit him.

You both are very brave to face the world as it is, and make your peace with it.

I have human friends, too, who I cannot see as often as I'd like.

Better to make the best of the time we have than to live in fear of the sorrow of parting.

Friends for life!
