Newbies all over the place - me too

Hi - we have owned Cairns for the last 20 years, but are new to the Cairn web sites - 10 years ago when we bought our last Cairn, things weren't this active on the net. We lost our last Cairn, Brodie, in January; but we have located a litter and have our deposit down. So now it's just a matter of time before we get to decide which puppy will come home with us and be 'Fergus'. In the mean time, I have some puppy pictures. This pup is masquerading as a teddy bear. ballast

Welcome to Cairn Talk! I've had Cairns all my life too, aren't they great dogs?!

I love the name Fergus! Be sure to take lots of pictures.....we love pictures! How old are the dogs now? Do you know when you will be able to take one home?

Hi Ballast, welcome to a great cairn forum. I can imagine how excited you must be waiting to bring Fergus home. Is that him that you're holding? That is one adorable puppy.

He is just precious. You will find this forum so fun and informative. Keep us posted on your pick and I love the name Fergus too...so unique and fits a Cairn. How did you come up with it?

Cairns Rule! The previous picture and these two were shot last weekend when the puppies were about 5 weeks old. It is still too soon to pick 'Fergus' from the crowd. We hope to get specific around 8 weeks (March 5th) and to bring 'the chosen one' home around March 19th. Already buying new puppy things tho.

I would have a very difficult time choosing one from those precious pups. I just might have to take them all!! Good luck with your choice. I know it is a very hard decision when looking at more than one Cairn but I just know you will choose the right Fergus for you.

Welcome and congratulations on your new addition. I'd have to be hugging ALL those puppies and sticking them in my pockets to take them all home. That first pup does indeed look like a little teddy bear. Our Scully was the only light one out of all the darker brothers and I see that litter looks the same.

We can't wait to see the REAL Fergus - and what a terrific name! Best of luck!

They are the cutest, aren't they? But wow, someone here said they would like to have "All of them"? FOUR? Can you imagine the chaos that would bring into your home? I don't think I have enough "Top dog" in me to try to raise four at once. My Allie is such a tester of the limits that I've actually decided against even a second. My part-time dog (friend leaves him with me a lot) is a border collie, and he lives to obey me.

When we were first married, we bought a Welsh Terrier - and he was so qute, we went back and bought his brother.... While we loved Brandy & Terry dearly, I highly recommend against buying two pups at the same time - you will never figure out which one is housebroken and which is not. And walking 2 dogs on a lead and pushing the baby carriage as well. Better to wait a year or so for the second one.

Having learned our lesson, we still are tempted, but now know better.

These are pictures of Brodie, who died in January. :(

ballast, I'm so sorry that you lost your beloved companion Brodie. I was really taken aback by the second picture because I have almost the exact same picture of my Ginger who crossed the Rainbow Bridge seven years ago. From that picture my SIL who is an artist did a huge pen and ink picture of her.

IMHO Brodie will always live on in your heart!
