Treats really work!

wheezie23,

Not only are your dogs gorgeous but so are your shiny hardwood floors. Just how do you do it with Cairns? I just cannot keep my wood floors looking good with the three of my terrors constantly dribbling water after drinking, tracking in snow, mud and God only knows what. And there there's the toys...more scratches from the bones and such.

I used to be a very meticulate housekeeper but now I've had to give up my dreams of a perfect, spotless home.

Yes, those two guys truly are gorgeous! Please tell on the hardwood floors. My husband wants to redo the kitchen floor and I am so hesitate on hardwood and we only have one Cairn!

Cute picture! I agree, that treat method works like a charm. I just have to shake the Bil-Jac carton for my cairns to come running. Your floors do look nice. I have ceramic here that I constantly use my Swiffer on. I'll take my cairns anyday over the "picture perfect" house that has that empty feeling.

Y'all have me cracking up over the floor comments! I don't have a problem with the floors at all. Of course, they come and go through the kitchen door, and that's where all the muck ends up. I have to sweep my kitchen twice a day and mop every other day to keep the floor clean. Now, if you could see further into the picture, you would've seen the toys strewn all over! I swear, sometimes I feel like I have two toddlers in the house!

Thela, thanks for the picture, your Cairns are soooo beautiful! I just love their coats....did you groom them yourself??

I have hardwood floors in most of my home and we don't have a mud room to walk through...yikes! I find the wood easy to keep clean, although I don't keep up with them as much as I should.

Shoe, yes I do groom them myself. I often wonder if I'm doing it right, but since I really don't have anything to go by, I just have to go by instinct. I use the Mars coat king and then I hand pluck around their face and tail. Of course, after I saw this picture, I had to trim Tucker's little hairs across his eyes. Now you can see how beautiful they are!

Oh Thela, thats the greatest piture so clear and perfect, with such great subjects. They are so beautiful I never noticed the hardwood floor, I had to go back and check it out. It does shine but not nearly as much as your boys. And your grooming is just what a cairn should look like. Can you do Molly for me? Molly's Gram

Thela, I love the picture of the two of them together! How sweet. Are they waiting/watching for the treat? I'll try that with my two - the digital camera should be here by this weekend.
