Great idea!

We are sheltering in place. Allowed out on;y for necessary business that includes dog walking!

We live in Carmel-by-the Sea, CA, a popular tourist destination with its quaint cottages, restaurants and stunning coastal views. Today it is a ghost town, with everything buttoned up. Don't remember it being this quiet since the pope visited the mission in 1987! Now, walk a block and "maybe" you will see just one other person walking. Social distancing  - absolutely.

We decided to take advantage of the quiet and walk Katie and visit the sights that bring the tourists.

In our walks, we will take photos and post.  Doubt we will see our former mayor, Clint Eastwood, but we will visit his ranch.

Enjoy the tour!!!

I love Carmel...only been once but the best calamari burger ever! Keep sending us Canadians who are still dealing with snow and cold winds pictures of Katie and your lovely town. We all need cheering up in these troubled times.

We found ourselves all alone in our favourite forest park this morning so Gus got some precious off leash time.

He is so shaggy!

Lovely photo of Gus, though.  He actually looks as a cairn should in its wilds in Scotland, so I think he looks quite magnificent.

You wouldn’t believe how much of his undercoat is floating around my house...no, you probably would believe it!

Been playing fetch with Gidget for the past 45 minutes and she’s still going strong! Always forget how much energy these puppies have! Can’t wait till she’s old enough to visit the dog park.

The farm is like everything else these days - nutty.  We had alot of prevent plant this year due to corn not being harvested last fall.  We harvested corn in March/April while the ground was still frozen by May the ground was mud and you couldn't get into the cornstalks to work ground.  So it's been interesting.   The 3 little Yorkies are not thrilled to go along in the tractors, but they do tell off the farm hands and trot around like they own the place.  Fun to see them enjoying life.

If a Yorkie doesn't do much else he/ she certainly knows how to let folks know who they are 😃

Good to hear from you Lori. Those little ones landed in the best place when they came to be with you.

Golly, Lori -- what you lack in terrier size you have made up for in number! Three little dogs now! The one little yorkie in our neighborhood is a little Napoleon, insisting that all march to his orders -- are yours like that?

What happened to trying to talk Jim into some retirement and the little house "in town"?

Once in a while I hear about a cairn in rescue and still think of you.  I do think you need a cairn to keep those little doggies in line...

Max, the 15 yr old, is full of character and yes you march to his bark.  Meeko likes to be with me and barks at other people.  Stella is just a little bundle of nerves - she is a sweet gal.  I have that little house in town and we go there on the weekends just to get off of this farm.  It has worked out nicely.  And I am still working on Jim's retirerment plan ... I don't know if he will be attending his farm sale.  The little dogs like the farm best but do enjoy a short stay in town.  I still look for a cairn at the humane societies - they are so much fun in these crazy times.

Yorkies!

I’m still living in an air bnb with a daily yorkie parade underfoot, demanding handouts and couch time. We live and breathe by Marley’s rules. He guilt tripped us for daring to pet my cousin’s dog and staying away from home all day. Apparently he has not equated our van in the driveway to mean we’re home or not home. We should be home all the time for him to claim, and he gets dejected when we don’t answer his call. Lol. He comes over around nine am every morning, barking at our door, and he stays on our couch until about ten thirty pm when we try to convince him to go home by turning out all the lights and leaving him alone. He’s tried to sleep on our beds but after being buried under terriers and having two park on my face, I’ve drawn the line at my bed. They can visit but they ain’t staying overnight. I need my sleep and I’m in too much pain to sacrifice what little shut eye I can get for the neighbor’s dogs’ comfort, especially since I’m paying to live here. Lol We’re still figuring out what rules to lay down with the dogs and how to ask for compensation for being on babysitting duty on our dollar, but the landlords want to take a vacation next month and leaving the dogs (all four!) with us, so we’ll at least have a good talk then. Mom won’t let me speak up when I want to talk about setting schedules for sleep and feeding so I don’t get pestered by screeching, scratching at the door, whining, howling, barking, and ankle herding by a pack of famished terriers Mom lets into the house every afternoon.
