Obviously at one point he is trying to tell you something is there! Your video ran over 3 minutes -- how long did he actually stay there looking for the prey?  For Oban and the chipmunks, this could take an entire afternoon...

Until I called him in to the house for a Charlee Bear. Then he wanted to go back out again. He's spent most of the last few nights in that general area.
