I've Been Away for a Long Time

Tonight is the second anniversary of Olie's death.  It's so unreal.  We lost Sweet Pea, and then finally Teddy in a short amount of time.  I've found it difficult to come back here since then, especially since the picture at the top of the home page is of three varied sizes of black brindle Cairns.  I noticed, in briefly browsing, that some of my oldest friends on this forum have had to make the same adjustments, i.e., getting used to losing aged Cairns and adopting  new Cairn family members.  We have Nelly,5 years, and Max, 4 years.  They are joyful babies.  Happy new year everyone.  Tara

I hate to think of our site header making anyone feel bad. Try the goofier “tribble” background or one of the solids for a while. That’s what I do when I’m missing Haggis or Echo particularly strongly...

Welcome back, Tara. You've been missed! The time-frame of your grief can be understood by anyone of us who has lost a cairn. I hope Brad's suggestion will work for you.

Looking forward to reading about the adventures of Nelly and Max in the New Year!

P.S. It's ironic that you mention your reaction to the cairn header photo, when for me, your avatar photo has always been the personification of the joy that cairns bring to our lives. It's good to see it back again!

yes, december 28 was the 5th anniversary of redmon's death, hard to believe. so i definitely understand. nice to see you back.

We lost Petey and Belle within 3 months of each other in 2016. It’s so hard, and I miss them both tremendously. Our cairns bring us so much joy. So sorry for your loss.

So sorry about Petey and Belle!  I think you know I understand, based on how short a time it took us to lose Olie, Sweet Pea and Teddy Bear.  They grab our hearts and never let go; and we never let go to our devotion to them.  Love for all our lost babies.
