I have got to ask you Lori, how long are you sitting in that combine and how do you keep those "shears" so straight in between the rows?

I was looking at Dempsy for about a week on the web site.  No one adopted him and then one rainy snowy day I snuck off and came home with Dempsy.  It was a fun day.

We sit in those combines as long as it takes.  Mother nature is a nasty person to work with - it can be long horrible hours, but you make yourself have as much fun as you can and try to enjoy.  Many 13 hour days during harvest.  It's not just sitting in the combines - it's also moving augers, fueling, greasing, fixing and most of all watching constantly for safety issues.  Hard to find good help and you have to be constantly be out guessing what path they are going to take to get a job done.  That's probably the most energy sucking - watching out for others.  When we plant we plant with GPS but when we combine we prefer to drive the rows.  With corn you need to go in straight and keep straight or you will loose the cob.  Some farmers use the GPS to combine, but we manually drive.  Once in a while I will cheat (like when I grab a sandwich) and turn on the GPS just for a little relief.  Anyway - we have a little over 1000 acres left on corn and the weather man has promised us a good week.  Dempsy is not a combine dog, but little Elsie .... you can't keep her out of it. :)

. People just dont appreciate  the hard work and long hours that farmers put in, which in turn supplies us with all kinds of produce . Thank you Lori!

Congrats to Dempsy on 8 happy, wonderful years!  I live for these videos, Lori.  God bless you and Demps and Elsie.  You're quite a trio, riding together day and night to get the corn in.

This girl appreciates everything farmers do. It is not an easy job at all. I can't imagine working that many acres. There are a lot of people that doesn't seem to appreciate the work that goes into farming, thats because most have never done that kind of work.

I love the videos and i'm constantly amazed by them. Especially that you make time to do them. You are awesome Lori. Love Dempsy and Elsie.
