Gus's Road Trip

Islander

Recommended Posts

Gus celebrated his 8th birthday with a road trip to the north end of Vancouver Island.

Here are a few shots of his fun week, fishing, walking and avoiding bears and eagles!

Happy Birthday, Gus! :cake:  Beautiful photos. I especially like the one of Gus in the water.

Stunning pictures!  Looks like the perfect way for a Cairn to celebrate a birthday.:cake:

Gus looked like he was watching something in the water.  Did he do any fishing?

Idaho Cairns

Love Vancouver Island!!!!  What a great place for Cairn Terriers--it has everything they like, plenty of wild critters, water, and cool air.  We haven't been up there in many years but sure do remember it as a special place--even the big city of Victoria is special--visiting those streets is like going back 40-50 years to a much more sedate, quiet, and pleasant place--it is almost like time travel--backwards.
Enjoyed the pictures very much.

What a gorgeous boy Gus is. And you always take such lovely pictures!

Vancouver Island is actually the only part of Canada I've ever been to and it took my breath away.

"as far as i am concerned cairns are the original spirit from which all terriers spring, and all terriers are cairns very deep down inside." pkcrossley

I love this island! Lived up north for six years when access was ferry or logging road. Moved to the south end 37 years ago for a kinder, gentler but still wildly beautiful environment.

Here are a few more shots of Gus fishing. He doesn't go for the big ones like Packy, but can spend hours in a river or a tide pool, definitely trying to catch water bugs and tiny fish and sometimes apparently succeeding. You can see he is on about 40 feet of line...otherwise impossible to get him out.
