Cybenator Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 For some reason I find this distasteful: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5543022111&rd=1
Eliz222 Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 This is terrible! I can't believe Ebay is hosting this auction! Viewing the page gave me a sick feeling in my stomach...shame on them!
CathyAnn Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 Guess eBay is serious when they say they have it ALL! I wonder if they realize this is goin' on??? Cathy P.S. Edited to add: I reported it to eBay under "hazardous materials"......couldn't figure out how else to report it??? Also reported under "other problem". Sure hope they get rid of it soon..... Cathy and Piper
toomanypaws Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 That's really disgusting! I also reported them to ebay as I find this highly inappropriate and offensive. P.S. Edited to add that I also emailed the seller and asked him why he doesn't just give his dog a proper burial and bury his remains in a cemetary or a place of his choosing. <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/maiwag/terriersiggy.jpg" border="0" class="linked-sig-image" /> Beth, mom to Ninja (5), Hannah (7), Abbey (7 1/2), Kiara (10)
Scully'sMom Posted December 12, 2004 Posted December 12, 2004 Oh that is just disgusting, distasteful, and just plain awful. I'm glad that you reported it. I wonder if we threaten to report it to the Department of Health or something.
wheezie23 Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 It's amazing what some people will stoop to just to make a buck. There is no doubt in my mind that this is simply that, too. Disgusting. Scully'sMom Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 I was going to follow in your footsteps and email the seller but am I right that you have to be registered on EBay in order to either email a seller or register a complaint?
Guest Guest Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 I wish I never went into that site to see what you were talking about. I figured they might be autioning off a pup. My stomach curdled when I read that. What is this world coming to?
bubba Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 I complained to Ebay as well. I checked the list of items that are/are not allowed to be listed, and this didn't fall under any of them that I can see. For human remains, yes, but for animal, it didn't appear to be covered. I'm sure they will have to remove it if Ebay doesn't do it for them. pat. Children don't care how much you know...they want to know how much you care.
magadog Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Although I'm truly flabbergasted, I find it awfully curious. I see that the seller has no return policy. Could this be the perfect gift for the organic gardener who has everything? Granted, it's tasteless. But instead of getting all outraged, I will look at this as bizarre gallows humor. Let's see if anyone bids on "Lady."
GIDGETSMOM Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 I too have reported this seller to eBay. I am an avid eBayer, and there are a lot of discusting things on there, but this has to be the worst yet! What kind of pet owner would sell their beloved pets' remains, muchless to a total stranger? Some people are just beyond weird! There's nothin' in this world better than puppy breath!!!
wheezie23 Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Magadog makes a good point. Although we would never consider selling our precious pup's remains on Ebay, it really is a morbid example of what people do for money and somewhat laughable. There wasn't any harm done to a live dog (thankfully). I still find it gruesome, though. Guest posting as: Darcys mom Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 When our two previous Cairns passed away several years ago, we just couldn't bring ourselves to deliver them over to thevet to dispose of. Instead we opted for cremation and we have them in two urns on our mantle. Maybe that's morbid to some but we at least still "have them with us" and every once in a while I will talk to them. We never considered "spreading their ashes" anywhere, just too hard and we didn't have the heart for it. Somehow, we still feel their presence.
CathyAnn Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Ok, it's still there?? May I ask of those who did report this, how did you report? Just hard for me to believe that eBay would actually allow this.....and that it hasn't been removed. Cathy Cathy and Piper
MikeC Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 I just tried to click on the link and ebay must have removed the add. From reading the other posts though, I assume someone was trying to sell their deceased pet? Really gruesome. I hate to imagine where that poor pet would end up. I have the urns of five dogs that I have owned and loved over the last 30 years in a box in my closet. When my time comes, it is directed in the my will that they will go with me and if I outlive Duffy, which I doubt, he will go with me too! MikeC
GIDGETSMOM Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 I just logged in to my eBay acct. and done a search and can't find it either. eBay must have removed it. Thank goodness!!! There's nothin' in this world better than puppy breath!!!
kgemind Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 Yea, this forum has power!! Great job everyone!
Scully'sMom Posted December 14, 2004 Posted December 14, 2004 I have my Ginger's ashes up on my bedroom chest of drawers, along with her collar. I also have there the last shirt my dad wore on the day he died and I cut the back panel of it out. He would only wear two flannel shirts. My mom kept the other and this one was blue and when I got married five years ago I had a piece of it sewn into my gown as my "something old, something blue." Oooppsss, there I go off-topic again. Mea Culpa Brad!
