Toy Box

Just wondering what everyone keeps their dog toys in, because I am at my wits end to find an answer to my problem. My pup will chew and bite anything I keep his toys in - even when the plastic bin, basket or box is empty. He just loves and loves to chew, and invariably destroy. :(

I keep Agatha's toys in a metal magazine bin from the container store. Even if she wanted to chew it she couldn't. :) She can also see everything she has and find exactly the right toy she wants.

For Piper's first birthday, I bought a nice wicker basket for her toys. She had chewed up the plastic crate I had been storing her toys in. But since she hadn't chewed anything up in a long time, I decided she was big enough to not chew the wicker basket. I was wrong! She promptly chewed up one whole corner of it.

I keep Tucker's toys in a soft, dog bed. He never sleeps in it, but it's so funny to watch him climb in and dig around looking for "that special toy" to play with. He's yet to try to chew it up. ::::knocking on wood:::: :shy:

We keep ours on a big pile on the tv center. My pocketbook's up there. So are the library books. So are the TV speakers. All right, so we're pigs!

Seriously, I would like to clean up for once- Last year I even had to blockade the piano and the back of the couch because he started chewing the legs off. I would like to take those bins away so we can live like humans!

I keep Brodie's in a plastic basket, but he doesn't chew it up. The metal bucket/box sounds like the answer for you. :-) Good luck.

Right now the toys are in a plastic basket in the kitchen. Whenever I get sick of stepping over toys, I collect them all and put them in the basket. Within seconds one of the girls will walk over and dump the toys back out. In a way it's funny because they will dig through and pull their favorite toy back out. I sometimes babygate the puppy, Hannah in my master bathroom. She has a frisbee full of toys over there. I saw this cute toy box in some pet magazine that is in the shape of a bone that I thought would be cute to have for the girls but I'm afraid my middle cairn Abbey would chew the top off. :nono:

Add to my cairn girl's toys, my lab also has toys scattered throughout our family room  I'm beginning to realize that I overspend on these pets and I need to get a better system of organizing the toys around here. :shy:

Finch and Scout use this big plastic tub. Finch likes to sleep in the tub (when it's on it's side!), but when she's not napping, she's pulling all her toys out of there.

Hi! Right now Riley's toys are right where they usually are - - - strewn throughout the house!!! At night I place them back in their rightful spot - - a big plastic container that he has yet to chew!!! Seems to work for us because I have stored them in this basket since he was a pup!!!

What great suggestions and pics! I am envious of those who have pups which actually keep their toys in somewhat good shape. My pup rips apart all stuffed animals which I give him, yet ignores the toys made specifically for chewing.

I bought a stuffed dog that barks, and my pup spent 1/2 an hour meticulously pulling out every piece of stuffing. He would growl and bark if we tried to take it away.

They sell that bone shaped holder at WalMart, at least the ones up in Washington state. I think it is about the same price and you don't have to pay shipping and better yet, you don't have to wait for it to arrive!

Cooper's and Yoda's toys I try to keep in a soft bed. When we had only Cooper, he had no interest in going in it. Now that Yoda is here, he likes to lay in it and chew on toys or just nap, so of course it has become a battle between the two of them to see who gets to be in it. More often than not, the toys are on the floor outside the bed now!

pat.

I bought the girls the bone shaped toy box and Madison chewed a little off the corners but she's getting much better. It's got to be 3/4 full and I love watching them dig through it.

Brad, how do you keep all those stuffed animals in one piece? Even my vinyl ones are faceless.

Soph's toys are in a wicker basket that looks nice in my living room. When Soph was a pup she chewed the heck out of a shallow wooden type dish I had her toys in. I got it from Ikea and it was cheap so I didn't car. The basket is cheap too.

Non of Sophie toys last. I realize buying her stuffed toys is a monthly expense. I buy from Walmart & clearance toys at Petco & after Christmas toys that are cheap!

Hi

I just wanted to add to the list.

We keep Abes toys in a wicker basket that has no loose weave to it and rather sturdy. he loves the challenge of tipping it over to get at the goodies, and when he was smaller he would just hang over into the basket.......that rump turned up in the air was absolutely adorable!!!!!!
