T-REX
I have just read a post by our fellow board member laika and it gave me an idea , or to say better it raised a couple of questions in my mind : what would I protest against if I was a cairn or a pet in general ? what would I love my companion to be like if I was a cairn ? would I have chosen living in the wilderness or in the comfort of a house ? humanity is a beast , that is corrupting the world and the nature . And I think that , as fair as we should be , we should at least imagine , a world where roles are reversed. what would animals , in our case cairns , do if they had control ? the revulsion we all feel about poor pets being used in lab experiments . do we have the right ? do they want revenge ? CallisMom
Hmmm . . . I think my birds would like to live in the wild (they were a gift to the children from my sister after many protests of "NO BIRDS") but I think Callie would choose to do exactly what she is doing - maybe a little more freedom if she had her way (a doggy door so she could come and go as she please but that isn't going to happen!!) - but I think she would just like to frolic in the woods which she does for at leat 50% of the day and cuddle with me and play with the kids and chew on her bully stick at the end of our bed . . . dogs are social - my dogs have always loved their lives - I don't think my maltese would have ever picked the wild . bradl
I predict dogs would set about training another species to provide them with food, shelter, care, and love. CAIRNTALK: Questions? kayharley
Even before I read this post, I was picking up the den/computer/dogs room scattered with their toys and bones and thinking how good my pets have it and how wonderful that makes me feel to be able to give them such a rich life. So I really don't think they would protest much more than not having access to the refrigerator and the grooming of their underside area.
MikeC
I have to agree with Kay. I think Duffy would like human food available 24 hours a day and a much bigger yard to play in. To get a little more philosophical, I do not believe that dogs would seek revenge. They don't have that in their hearts. If humans were like dogs, I doubt we would have terrorism, wars, hatred, bigotry, etc., etc., etc! I get a sense of peace and comfort from my dogs and I know that they love me regardless of what I look like, what I think, whether I am healthy or otherwise, whether I have a big bank account or none at all. Humankind can learn much from our canine friends. I don't know why it is taking so long. MikeC
CarCarDawn
Hi! Riley is cared for and loved immensely - - he also gives love unconditionally and is never, never judgmental - - - we can learn a lot from these lil guys!!!

kayharley
MikeC....your post sent shivers down my spine. Animals are indeed so trusting, so loving, so forgiving. If only for a day us humans were able to take the spirit from our canines and live with what is in their hearts, there would be no wars or evil doings. T-REX
I hope , I really hope we're right when we say that our pets couln't have had a better life . I hope they have the good and comfotable life they diserve . concerning revenge . It's more complicated , I know a dog wouldn't think of revenge . But if I was a mistreated dog I'd think of revenge . Wouldn't you ?
toomanypaws
Mistreated would make one look at it in a different perspective, but this is hardly the place to be at to find any mistreated pets and how they might comtemplate revenge on their owner. I don't hope, I know that my pets couldn't have it any better than the life I give them. They are pampered, spoiled and loved. I wish all pets had it this good. Beth, mom to Ninja (5), Hannah (7), Abbey (7 1/2), Kiara (10)
Eliz222
Hey, Toomanypaws, I wish I had it as good as my dogs!!!!!!!!!!!! Having a pampered life, where all my wishes are met, sounds like my kind of life! And lots of belly rubs sounds good too...lol!
toomanypaws
You're right about those belly rubs. I crack up when I'm rubbing a belly and stop. Within seconds a front paw swipes at me to keep going. Beth, mom to Ninja (5), Hannah (7), Abbey (7 1/2), Kiara (10)
MikeC
Shoe and Toomanypaws, I agree with you that there is not one among us in this Forum that would have any, and I repeat any inkling of even the slightest mistreatment of our beloved animals. We dog lovers are, pardon the pun, a breed unto ourselves and always go out of our way to make sure our little ones have fresh food and water, plenty of exericise, a clean bed, toys, treats, the list goes on and on, but above all unending love and devotion which is exactly what they give us in return. I have always said that if I were to come back in my next life as a dog, I would want someone like me to be my companion. That sounded a little convoluted, but I think you get my drift. Laika
fairly , I think our dogs are lucky and they diserve it . Of course not all the dogs of the world are as lucky , but not our beloved dogs . the proof is that we are here talking , sharing ideas , and much of that is just for our pets .
