Swimming!

Just thought I would share with you the new trick Penny has learnt. We have been taking her quite a lot to a local beach in Sydney Harbour, she started off by just wetting her toes, then paddling out a few steps, now she swims out quite a distance. It is so cute to see, all you need to do is through a stick and out she goes. It is about the only time she brings a stick back. I will try and take my camera and take some video of the little rat bag! All the hard work of training her has finally paid off. Mind you she still is a typical cairn, just because she can come doesn't mean she will come all the time when I want her to!!

Cairns are surprisingly strong swimmers--I have been impressed with their ability to handle the often swift currents that they are exposed to in our neck of the woods. I'm like hheldorfer tho--I wish anyplace around here was swimable at the moment--just a few weeks in and I am already tired of winter.
