Adult Cairn companion/pet

I don't want a puppy! I'm looking to buy an adult dog for an adult home. He or she would be alone 3 or 4 days per week, 11 hours--so that I can earn bone money!--but showered with love and attention at all other times! Retired show or breeder--not from puppy mill--would be terrific. Thanks for any suggestions.

It makes me sad to think of any dog home alone for 11 hrs. It seems this would be hard on the dog too especially the transition to your home only to be left 4 days for 11 hrs. Maybe it's just me or maybe my girls are too spoiled, but that seems a little too long for any dog to be left.

I agree. 11 hours is a long time for any dog to be left, and we all know our cairns (most of them anyway) can't be trusted alone in the house. That means crating them for 11 hours at a time. I think a cat might be a better choice? :(

I, also, agree that this would be too much for ANY dog. I would hate to think of any dog being left alone for 11 hours at a time. Is there any way you could make your days at work shorter and work more days of the week? If not, I would seriously consider getting a cat, or some fish. I will have to put in long hours at work sometimes, but my husband comes home from work, for lunch, and spends an hour with the dogs. This only happens once in awhile, not on a weekly basis.
