Guess what?

After all these months of searching and waiting, I've finally been in contact with a breeder here whose female is expecting. Maggie is a dark brindle and the sire is a silver brindle. The puppies are due in October which means I'll have a new pup in November. I'm besides myself with excitement. November can't come soon enough! :D

On another note, I got a call from Zoe's breeder the other day. She saw an ad in her local paper for a 1 yr. old cairn female, spayed, for $400. Since she recognized the number, she found out it was an older couple she had placed one of Zoe's littermates with. It seems that they've decided a cairn is not for them, and rathr than return her to the breeder, they were hoping to get their money back! She was frantic and thought I might want her since it's Zoe's sister and she knew I was looking for another one. I said absolutely, I want her. But they had already sold her! We were both very upset. :crybaby:

Anyway, I'm going to have another pup! I just wanted to share with you all! :D

Wheezie, that is terrific news! The first Cairn I got many moons ago I got in November and she was such a joy to have that first Christmas! It's a shame you weren't able to get the sister, but I believe everything happens for a reason and I think the special pup is out there for you. Do you have any names picked out?

Add me to the "jealous" list! I'd love to add one more to my two. But guess we'll have to wait til we finish cruising. Getting a little tight on the boat. Congrats, I'm so happy for you!!!! :D

As a matter of fact, we have picked out some names for her. (I want another female) We're leaning toward Annabelle (Annie) or Abigail (Abby) but it will depend on the pup and her personality. Any other suggestions? (Brad??) :king:

Well, now you went and did it Wheezie - I just noticed your link to the webpage and my heart just broke at the pictures of Zoe and to read of her accident. This is exactly why I am so terrified of Scully running loose. On an up-note, your children are absolutely adorable and your daughter is stunning in her prom picture.

This new pup is coming to a wonderful home. She's very lucky!

I can't wait to see what names Brad The Famous Cairn Puppy Namer comes up with. Hmmm...since you're from the south, Annabelle Lee (?) It's not very Scottish though.

That's great news, Wheezie! I just looked at your website on Zoe and felt so bad for you and your family having to suffer her loss. On an upnote, I'm happy you will soon have a new pup in your family. One of our cairn girls is named Abigail Lee, Abbey for short. There's so many pretty girl names and that's always so much fun choosing one.

Keep us updated, can't wait for pictures. BTW, beautiful family picture!

I fear the muse may have deserted me, wheezie23. Our five-month-old is teething at the moment and if her name were Annabelle I'd be tempted to rename her Annibal Lecter. I usually practice with a potential name by shouting, " 'X' NO!" and "'X' DROP IT!"

Anyway, are there any themes you'd like to allude to in a registered name, or are you looking for a nice 'call' name? What are her sire and dam's name - it's often fun to build on those. Our pup's parents were named Stiller and Echo, so her registered name includes "Still Echoing". You may want to wait until the litter is on the ground (chickens, eggs, counting, hatched, etc.). Sometimes a breeder likes to have a litter theme - those can be fun to work with. Some examples: food themes, baseball themes, golf course themes, a letter of the alphabet, movies or movie stars, parts of speech (just kidding on that one ... I think) and so on.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! Believe me, when our pup arrives, I'll have plenty of pics to share.

Shoe, the puppies are due the first week of October, so I'm thinking probably the first of December. I can see the pictures already!

Brad, I knew I could count on you for a chuckle. Annibal Lecter, indeed! I'm really looking for a call name since I most likely won't register this pup either. But I do like to come up with fun, creative names. I had thought that since I live in South Louisiana I could go with a cajun name, but there's something not right about a Scottish dog named Boudin or Thibodaux! :shy:

Well I was lobbying for a while to call our current pup Jam - which could be short for Jambalaya. There was a Puli named Jam in our obedience class some years ago and I loved that name and hope to use it some day.

For a boy, Beignet (Ben) would be a tasty name.

Just wanted to share a picture I found of Scully that her breeder has sent me when I was choosing a pup. Her mom was chocolate brown and her dad was tan. She is a silver/tan color with some dark markings. Every picture she sent of her, she was the had the most "LOOK AT ME, I'M BEAUTIFUL TAKE ME HOME" attitude. I fell in love with her the minute I saw the picture and we haven't been sorry since.

I'm not too sure about Jambalaya for a name b/c I'd be too hungry all the time! lol Beignet is awfully cute, tho! If she's dark, I can always call her Roux. And Gumbo would make a cute name, too! Now you got me using my noggin, Brad!

Scullysmom, that picture is adorable!

 @ CathyAnn - sorry you can't have her - that's our pup. She looked like that in every picture the breeder sent. It was a scream. No advertising necessary; that face said it all. :halo:
