Ulcer

Recommended Posts

My 6 1/2 year old female Cairn has been throwing up a lot lately. We have had two sets of xrays done and some blood work but everything looks OK so far.

This morning we awoke to more throwing up and this time with some blood. My wife went into hysterics.

We took her (the Cairn) to the Vet and he said that "Holly" has a stomach ulcer. He gave her some pink liquid medicine and changed her food.

#1 - Does anyone know how to get this medicine in her? When we fill the syringe and put it anywhere near her mouth - she growls

#2 - Any experience with stomach ulcers?

Regards,

Mark

Is the medicine minty? Wes hates minty pepto, but likes cherry.

Kmart adds flavoring to their medicines. Maybe you can ask the pharmacist.

Hi! Sorry to hear your Cairn is sick - - if the medicine can be dispensed in a pill form - - I would call the vet and see if this is a possibility. My experience - - having a Cairn with special needs - - is that it is much easier to slip them a pill than to give a liquid remedy. I just hide the pill in a little bit of cream cheese, peanut butter or liverwurst - - works like a charm!! Hope your lil one is soon on the road to recovery!!!

I would check to see if there might be a 'pill form' of the same med or an equivilent.

We use Velvetta cheese for pills. They gulp it down so fast...never even knowing there's a pill in it  ......

There should be a pill form for this medicine. What works for us is using a Kraft cheese cube, goes right down.

So sorry about your baby, let us know how she's doing.
