a kid in dog fur.....

I thought I was getting a 4 month old puppy when I got Grace a few weeks back...but now I am not so sure. I swear she is a little kid in dog fur.... She plays soccer, slides down her slide and crawls under the table to sneak up on me to bite my toes. Her favorite thing is when we go for our walk...there is a spot with a very vertical hill...she runs straight up and then rolls down....over and over and over..smiling. I swear she would laugh if she could! I would love to know the fun things other people's Cairn's do....... :D

Aren't these guys such a riot? I have 3 and there's never a dull moment around here. Matter of fact, I started checking this forum a couple hrs ago and have been up and down more times than I can count doing something w/ the dogs. Right now I can hear squeaky toys as my dd is playing w/ them. My youngest cairn is almost 13 wks now and I love the way she stalks the other two. She loves being in the bathroom w/ me when I'm in the shower and her joy in life is when my shower is done and I open the curtain so she can see me. She jumps up on her hind legs in delight that her mommy is back. Each one of mine has such a different personality, it's amazing. My oldest one has become so vocal, I swear I almost have her saying "I love you". Can't stand listening to them playing, need to join in . . . . . . .

The other day I found Madison in one of our birdbaths. I have one placed near a large rock that's in our stone wall so the chipmunks and other small kritters can get a drink. Well, there she is sitting up in the water waiting for someone to come in and play with her! Either that or her intention was to be "one of the birds".

I have several large gardens in my yard...some are island beds. Madison will get one of her energy bursts and start running like the wind with her ears flying back around and around the gardens. She knows not to go in the mulch so when she comes to a corner she'll jump like a rabbit and literally fly over the plants. I wish I could get a picture of her in mid air. I laugh so hard I cry.

I cannot believe sometimes how much I love my girls and how much joy and amusement they give me every day! :D

Hi! These Cairns are truly amazing dogs!!!! Riley will spin around and around when I ask him if he needs to go out. The other day he got spinning so fast and furious that he ran right into a wall - - - sprawled on the floor - - he looked at me as if to say: "where did that come from"!!!???? I laughed myself silly as I opened the door to let him out!! Not a day goes by that this little guy doesn't entertain me or make me laugh!!!

My Cairn, Tori loves to be outside, when it is time to come in she lays down and rolls over on her back and will not walk with the leash. I start to pull and she stays on her back and I pull her all over the back yard. What a sight ! I should take a video of that girl, laying on her back and sliding all over the yard. She adores the pond and frogs etc. water is her favorite element, the bigger the splash the better ! :P Cairns are the best cartoons ever !

Tori's mom, my puppy, Finch, does the same thing! I have her on a harness, and when she doesn't want to come in, she will get on her back! If I pull her forward she just stays in the same position! Too funny!

Georgie Fuzzbutt loves outside too.......particularly when its raining! Has anybody else encountered this one? When the rain starts she runs back and forth from the window to the door until I let her out...then she races straight to the spot in the back yard where there is absolutely NO shelter and just sits there with her "well-arent you gonna come and play with me" look on her face!! She will quite happilly sit in the rain for hours (and its really cute cos it makes her face go all fluffy).

Grace doesn't sit in the rain...but she plays in the creek along the path we walk on. Loves the spots where there are rocks and small rapids...sticks her nose in them to feel the bubbles. And she loves hoses and will try and drag me into people's yards who are watering.....and the last time I took her to our Park of Roses...she jumped straight into the fountain! Didn't know I adopted a "water baby".

Hi! Riley also loves the rain - - he will run from the kitchen to the living room and back again several times so I can let him out!! He just wanders around in the rain!! You would think he wouldn't want to get that wet - - since he hates his baths and other forms of water things - - but he loves to walk in the rain!!!

LOL...what great stories! :D

Scully loves the rain as well. She looks like a drowned rat but she's a happy little pup. One thing she does is when I'm outside watering the plants and the water runs down the sidewalk and puddles into this one spot, she chases the water down and starts barking at the puddle. Go figure.

One other thing she does is when she's lying on the sofa, all of a sudden she'll look straight across at the big screen TV (when it's off) and then turn her head like "Who is that" and starts barking at herself.

I had told my son to look outside, but Wes beat him to the front window and looked first.

I swear that although he cannot talk (yet) he understands everything we say.

Hi!! Sally - - that's a funny one!!!! I told Riley that his "Daddy" was coming home soon - - - realized that he was missing for a while and found him by the front door - - - waiting on his "Daddy"!!!!! I know he understands me!!!!!

Scully is a daddy's girl. I get home from work first and I'll be in the kitchen starting dinner with Scully waiting for the food to drop on the floor (fat chance). She knows her daddy's truck as soon as he pulls up and she goes to the top of the basement steps and waits v-e-r-y quietly and still until she hears him hit the alarm button and then it's off to the races. All you see is this chubby furry behind going down the steps. I swear the back end is going to swing around to the front and knock her over one of these days, she goes so fast.

Does anyone else have to spell around their dogs? We have to spell c-a-r and

o-u-t-b-a-c-k.

I can relate to the "spelling" around my cairn. I have to spell W-A-L-K and O-U-T and G-O. The cutest thing is when he hears me say something that rhymes with one of "his" words. He goes nuts thinking we are going for a walk when I may have said "talk" instead of "walk".

Also, after I give him a treat sometimes, he will be standing there looking at me wanting to see if I have more. I sometimes say, "That's it" and he sits....he thinks I said "Sit". He looks so proud to be doing what I "asked" him to do, even though that isn't what I said! They are so cute!!

we have to spell p-a-r-k, c-h-e-e-s-e, b-o-t-t-l-e, f-o-o-d, d-o-g...

Once my husband forgot to spell park, and Wes started jumping up and down in anticipation, so we had to go.

We don't spell around Duffy, but we are teaching him another language. My partner and I are both of Sicilian descent and we both speak a little of the dialect. So, we have decided that Duffy is going to be bilingual also. So far he knows "come here", "cookie", "eat" and "outside" both in English and our dialect. He's absolutely the smartest little dog I have ever known. And no Brad, his nickname is not "Don Duffyoni".

Mike, I'm laughing so hard I'm gonna pop out my staples on my incision. My mom is Italian and I learned all the swear words. I'm picturing Duffy looking at you guys when you tick him off and using "paw signs" rather than the international Italian hand signs to curse at you. Too funny. It's pretty sad though that I can't teach Scully to know "come" in English let alone another dialect. You must be so proud! :halo:
